Oh god, I’m car-less!
Yesterday, I accompanied Miguel’s buyer to my bank to pay off the loan and hand the title over. I was a little sad because Miguel is far and away the awesomest car I’ve ever owned, but then I’m more happy about the way it worked out: his buyer is fantastic (and loves Minis a lot), I made a pile of cash on the deal, and I get a new car. WIN!
I took the train out to the mall to meet Matt last night, and we toured some car lots and talked to some salesmen. I didn’t see anything perfect (it’s possible I’m extremely picky), but I have a good idea of what I’m looking for. Here is my working list, direct from my garage on CarSoup.com:
- 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse
- 2008 Mazda RX-8
- 2006 Saab 9-3 (the updated version of my old car)
- 2006 GTO
Yes, one of those things is not like the others. However, it’s ORANGE. And a muscle car. And makes me warm to think about it. We’re going to drive it tonight.
But in general, what I’m looking for is 2006 or newer, low miles, manual transmission, and fast. Fast is most important, obviously. I love test-driving cars. Part of me wants to go drive a Jaguar, even though it’s fairly obvious I’m not intending to buy one.
After car-lookin’ last night, his parents joined us for dinner at America’s Largest Sports Bar, and then we hung out at his place and watched the Twins game. I went home and assembled camping stuff and then crashed, grateful to have survived two entire nights away from my boyfriend. It’s difficult!
Today we’re going to finish packing, food-shopping, and test-driving, because tomorrow we’re headed up to lovely Walker, Minnesota, for Moondance Jam. It’s a 4-day party that is unrivaled in legend, and the weather looks like it’ll be perfect. While you’re all doing your thing Friday night, I’ll be watching Poison. I might die of hilarity.
Have an awesome weekend, dudes. See you Monday!
