Guten Morgen, alles!
It’s amazing the difference the time change makes. Since it was light out when I got up this morning, I am about 390% more awake today than usual.
Last Friday was HOCKEY, the first conference game of the season. Wendy, Stephanie, Matt and I met up at Grumpy’s for pre-game entertainment, then went over to Mariucci to get really excited about the fact that, holy shit, the Gophers look great this year. Also, Kellen was tending goal, and it was the first time we’ve seen him since March.
[SECRET NOTE FOR KELLEN’S EYES ONLY: i love you.]
Anyway, the Gophers got a shut-out, which they followed up with an 8-1 win over CC the next night, including a hat trick by Kyle Okposo. I think the only thing that could possibly make these games any more exciting would be if I could see too many men on the ice once in a while. Because that’s just HOT.
After hockey, Wendy and I drove up to
CanadaBlaine for Jumi’s halloween party. I debuted
my halloween costume, which included a liquor case containing tequila (unopened) and puckschlager (consumed). I got overly excited because one of Jumi’s coworkers was dressed as a Wild player, which proves that maybe I’m a little too obsessed. Also, I would like to note that Cindi had the
best costume ever: a douchebag. She was packing, and carried ‘roofies’ in her wristbands, which she dropped into people’s drinks all night. Even those of us who know her were scurrying away all night, totally creeped out. AWESOME.
Saturday, I did very important home-things all day, ran a bunch of errands, went for a long walk around my lake because it was gorgeous outside, then donned the costume again and Cin and I headed to Town Talk for pre-party dining. The guys behind the counter didn’t recognize us at all at first; even when Nick realized who the douchebag was, he still couldn’t stand looking at her. We were joined by Melanie and Kaye for a hurried dinner, and then we headed out to Sean’s, after stopping at Walgreens so Cindi could put on a cologne called Really Ripped Abs, the scent of which nearly killed us on the way to the party.
As in the past, Sean’s party was excellent.
Here are some photos of firebreathing, of Ryan’s awesomeness, of Shockerman doing yardwork, and of us generally being jackasses, because it’s what we’re good at. Also, I got to be a judge this year because I won the costume contest last year. Loved it.
We were ready to leave around 4am or so (or 5am? I know there was a time change involved.), when we realized the cops were outside talking to another girl at the party about her stolen car. Then I got freaked out about being arrested for doing something wrong (and I wasn’t, I just have this near-phobia involving suburban police). We finally left after 4:30, with Bill the pirate passed out in the back, proving that you can, in fact, sleep in the backseat of a Mini. Although I wouldn’t recommend it.
Kaye, Cindi, Wendy and I reconvened at Lyle’s for brunch on Sunday, an ordeal which lasted almost two hours, thanks to their really shitty daytime service (we’ve had no problems at night; all I know is nobody was in the mood to lick the building when we left). Cin and Kaye and I killed time shopping at the downtown Target, and OH MY GOD, I have underwear issues. See, the company that used to make my favorite panties doesn’t anymore, thus forcing me to change. I am VERY VERY PICKY, in case you didn’t know. So, I finally found ones that I like in the Hanes variety, and of course size 6 only ever comes in pink. Seriously, I think they do this to torture me. Because I do not want a pink-striped ass, and yet here it is. Dammit.
Anyway. We went to see
Marie Antoinette at Block E. As expected, it was not a great movie, but it was very pretty to look at, and featured a lot of painfully-cute baby animals. I think Cindi and Kaye were bored, if the popcorn-throwing was any indication. In the eveningtide, I went home and took a bath, which is probably my favorite thing ever after hockey. Oh, and sex. And my friends. And travelling. And brunch. But yeah,
almost my favorite thing ever.
To-night, I have weightlifting class, and then some of us are convening at my old coffeeshop for knitting. I fear I may have forgotten how, but I guess I’m going to find out soon.
Have the happiest of Halloweens tomorrow, dudes. If you’re in the neighborhood of Town Talk around 9pm, stop by. Also, I’m still determined to stick to my post-a-day thing in November, so keep an eye out for that on ye olde Wednes-day. See you then!
