COUGH COUGH COUGHCOUGHCOUGH!
Yeah, I’m sick again. It is awesome. And one of those sentences is a lie. Tuesday, Matt and I went to see Reel Big Fish at Myth. It was his first time there, and I’ve been dying to show him that, no, really, that place is fantastic, despite the fact it’s in Maplewood and it’s mas fashionable to hate on it*. The show was amazing, and I loved Streetlight Manifesto so much it’s all I’ve been listening to since**. While we were there, we stopped by the box office to purchase tickets to another of the best shows we will ever see: Snoop. I am going to see Gin and Juice live, and it is going to be the greatest day of my life. Yet again. Also, Myth still has the nicest bartenders and bouncers I’ve ever encountered. It’s kind of incredible. Wednesday, the sickness kicked into full gear and all I wanted was for work to leave me alone so I could die quietly at my desk. I couldn’t even bring myself to go out for Jay Night, so I knitted on the couch all night while Matt was at bowling, dissecting Rock of Love via text-message with Cin. You know how sometimes you see a double-decker bus packed full of backwater strippers having slap-fights over who’s prettier as the whole thing explodes into flames and plummets into a bottomless cavern? Yeah, and it has Bret Michaels, too! Yesterday, I stayed home to recover fully. Due to the disturbing wonders of the Neti Pot (quickly dubbed the ‘nose teapot’), my congestion had subsided quite a bit, to be replaced with The Cough. I was fine as long as I could keep from coughing; once it started, it was so persistent as to prevent things like standing and breathing. I spent the day making my apartment very, very clean (it’s been a long while since that’s happened) and knitting. Matt came to visit after work, and then it was time for the silent auction. Dudes, it was great. We hung out for a couple hours, had some food and drinks, shaved Wendy’s head (since she hit her $5,000 goal), and raised close to $2,000 for breast cancer research. Once all the funds have been deposited, Team Boobylicious will be well over $35,000, making us the #8 fundraising team in the Twin Cities, out of something like 600 groups. Thank you very much to everyone who came to the party, who bid, and who donated items to sell. Not just at this event, but in the three years we’ve been doing this. It’s amazing how generous everyone has been. I had to take my little fundraising monitor off the site because it hasn’t worked recently, but I currently have a mere $36.50 to go to my $3,000 goal. Yay! Also, we’re apparently supposed to walk 60 miles next weekend. I keep forgetting about that part. I can’t believe that by the end of the month, I’ll have walked 180 miles for boobs on the 3day. Oh-kay, I have to go do some work so I can earn my weekend. Have a very good one, and let’s talk about it when we return. Jenni* …though that kind of lazy vitriol is never surprising, considering the local blogging community, closeminded and bitter as all three of them are wont to be. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have some people writing positive, edifying things sometimes? Yes it would!
** Apart from the new Weakerthans record, which I could only listen to once because Virtue the Cat Explains Her Departure made me cry so damn hard.
