MY ANACONDA DON’T WANT NONE

Hey, I’m back!

Friday after running to Summit Brewery for some awesome silent auction stuff they were donating, I went to Matt’s and found him on the phone with his parents, wishing them happy anniversary. We then hopped in the car and hightailed it to South Dakota, managing to surprise the hell out of them.

We brought champagne and cheesecake. Six of his parents’ friends were there celebrating with them, so we had to toast to everyone’s anniversary (our 9 months included!), and then to random things like the guy pulling up with a trailer across the street, who didn’t even know we were toasting to him. We looked at slides and nearly died laughing; my favorite was the one of Matt at 2 years old, wearing the exact same socks i just knitted for him recently. He knows what he likes!

Round about 11, his parents were ready for bed, and we were ready to go out. We went to the Guesthouse first, and everyone there was already closing-time drunk. Since they didn’t have Hypnotiq (seriously, don’t ask), we decided to try the Harbor Bar. Of course, this was my idea, even though I’d already declared my intention to not go there, since it’s kind of a clusterfuck. In the best way possible, of course, alley-fights and all.

We sat at the bar while they played things like California Love, We Like to Party, Push It, and I Like Big Butts. There were four people on the dance floor rockin’ out to DJ Cracker, and this made me sad. I went to the prisonlike bathroom and overheard this conversation:

very drunk girl in the stall on my right: Hey Megan!!!!
very drunk megan in the stall on my left: [very long pause] …Whaaaaat?
very drunk girl in the stall on my right: [very long pause] …I LIKE BIG BUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE! YOU OTHER BROTHERS CAN’T DENY! WHEN A GIRL WALKS IN WITH AN ITTY BITTY WAIST AND A ROUND THING IN YOUR FACE YOU GET SPRUNG!

She was still rapping as I left. Anyway, Matt said it’d be time to dance when we heard one of the following:

Ridin’ Dirty
Crazy Bitch
Party Like a Rock Star (aka last weekend’s theme song)
Sexyback

As soon as he said that, Party Like a Rock Star came on. Followed by Crazy Bitch, followed by Sexyback. Wow.

I wish I could just transport you guys to the dance floor. Picture multiple trainwrecks, an 11-year-old midget on stage grinding on a dude two feet taller than her while ESPN is projected on them, and two strippers, one of them falling down. It’s spectacular, and I want to bring everyone I know there. I love it.

We got back around 2am, and tried to be very quiet in the den. We slept til 10, and were having breakfast when Matt’s mom told us that we’d be going to lunch shortly. We dined at the very excellent Past Times Cafe, and then it was time to get back on the road, after a stop at Shopko and the Grainery, of course. We were back in Minneapolis 24 hours after leaving.

Cindi and Wendy joined us for an episode of Ninja Warrior, and then it was time to go to the Pizza Luce block party. We got there just in time for it to start pouring, so everyone was drenched and huddling under whatever cover they could find. The rain started to let up for Chooglin’s set, and they were awesome as always. We moved up front for Doomtree, and despite Cin almost getting in a fight, it was great. Cecil Otter rules.

Afterward, we had dinner and drinks at Grumpy’s. We were planning to go out after that, but 3/4ths of us were already falling asleep, myself included. Most of our partying seems to be done in other states lately.

Yesterday, Matt and I reveled in sleeping in, chillin’ on the couch, and going to see The Bourne Ultimatum. I finished one knitting project and made significant progress on another. We were inspired by Alton in New Orleans, and had red beans and rice for dinner. It was an awesome day for doing nothing.

Today, well. It’s already the best day ever because the boy is working from home and I went to join him for “lunch”. Followed by eating toast at my desk. You can’t really go wrong with that.

Happy Monday, youse-all. Go check out the new auction stuff, ok?
