I’m glad I have a job where I can completely forget what I do the second I leave every day, or I’d probably be crabby right now. My dev server died in the middle of a service pack install, and I’ve been sitting in the server room for most of today reinstalling Windows and trying to recover everything. It’s damn cold in there.
Why am I a Microsoft developer again? Oh, right, because they have to pay people a lot to make them want to work with those shitty products. OK SO! I’ve taken so long to post this week, that I think I shall have to resort to bullets. SQUARE ONES.- Friday, I met Matt and Ryan for happy hour at Harry’s, then went to Grumpy’s for dinner with las chicas* while they were at the Twins game.
- We met up afterward and went to the Entry to see the Awesome Snakes and Chooglin’. I’m pretty sure I knew the entire audience from seeing them at so many other shows. Chooglin’ rocked like crazy, and the crowd more than made up for the lameass audience at the Turf Club. There was even a mosh pit, and kids passing out on the floor. It was a hell of a show.
- Saturday, we chilled for most of the day and then went to Lake Calhoun for grillin’, bocce, and general hijinks with Wendy and Cindi*.
- Once it got dark and a cop came around shining spotlights on us, we headed over to Big 10 in Stadium Village for their two-for-one gallons (or so they seemed). It was awesome except for the douchebag at the bar who Wendy almost threw down with after he got mad at her for asking what was in his drink. The bartender gave the fighting dude his tab and they left with a gross old guy(who Matt heard gasping and grunting in the bathroom), but we had already decided to go elsewhere, so we did.
- We ended up at Stub and Herb’s, which has a 101-shot menu, decent jukebox, and NEWNEWNEW naked ladies on the machine. We were instant winners.
- Sunday, we did little of anything. I did homethings while Matt went to watch the Vikings game, and then we did almost nothing for the rest of the day. One reason I really love this time of year is that I get a TON of knitting done, what with all the futbol and football on TV.
- Monday, Matt was still with cold, so I made homemade mac n’ cheese (sans meat, plus seasoned panko on top), and it was the best thing ever.
Jenni *Apparently they’re a couple now? MAYBE SO.
