I’ve decided to take part in the 5-a-day clutter away challenge, which involves getting rid of five things a day throughout the month of August. We’ve lived in our house for 10 months now; I figure if there are things we haven’t looked at since we moved in, they’re good candidates for moving right back out. We don’t have a ton of excess stuff, and I’d like to keep it that way.
We’re lucky enough to live in an area where we can count on donation pickup by ARC or other organizations at least once a month. Also, I really want to have a garage sale. I don’t even think we have enough items to host a legitimate garage sale, and yet. People come to your house and give you money for things you don’t want anymore! That’s the best kind of moneymaking there is.
So who’s with me? Hey, maybe we can have a community garage sale. Everybody wins!
you know that I am powerless against an internet challenge, don’t you? dammit.
dude. now we have to throw shit away AND keep reading infinite jest. don’t get the two confused!
I’m totally in! Granted, it might be 152 t-shirts, a quesadilla maker, and two Michael Jordan posters that have been rolled up since 1995, but that’s still 155 things!!!
I’m very excited about this. And Amelia’s going to be even more excited, I’m sure. haha.
awesome xmas is a valid way of getting rid of things, right?
I think we’ll have a bunch of things for a community garage sale once we move into a new place. A bunch of it is in storage at the moment, but keep in touch re: this.
awesome!
i picture our garage sale involving a bunch of us settin’ on the stoop drinking and eating sammiches while people throw wads of cash at us. or maybe piles of change.
Dude, I’d be tempted on the garage sale thing. Really tempted. So much old clothes, cycling stuff, video games, etc. Would love to jettison all of it.
that’d be awesome. we just have to pick a day in september. you can still have garage sales in september, can’t you? GOD, i don’t even know the rules.
I’m in! I just had that huge garage sale this year and already have stacks of stuff to go… And, yes, you can still have garage sales in September :) Just a one day sale on a Saturday would be perfect! I may even have pricing stickers leftover somewhere unless I threw them away since I NEVER wanted to have another garage sale…
And, um, are we still supposed to be reading Infinite Jest? *sigh*
that’s awesome! i really want to have a garage sale. i’ll have to look at the calendar.
i’m going to try. though i am gone for a week. better some stuff than nothing anyway.
yeah, we’ll be out of town for a portion of that, too. maybe i’ll queue a junk pile. :)

We are SO jumping on the garage sale wagon! Started our 5-A-Day today with ten items each, since we didn’t do it yesterday.
yay! i love that it’s making us organize other things, too. so awesome.
Thanks for participating and sharing with your readers!
If you start late just add the extra over the course of the month.
We’ll be away for a week, so I’m adding those days up and spreading them out.
I think I’ve already reached my 155, but I’m going to keep the 5/day up. I bet by the end it will be REALLY difficult. I’m having too much fun purging. :)
me too! i’m excited to make some money, too. :)
