Here is what I learned at the gym yesterday: do not read a book that will make you cry while you’re riding the bike. Holding back tears will make your throat hurt and your heart pound and all you’ll have to turn to for distraction is Oprah talking about why god does bad things to good people. And then you’ll want to cry more, not because of god, but because you’re stuck watching Oprah.
