HEY PUNANI

HEYHOWSITGOIN?

I hope you all had an excellent Mardi Gras. What I have determined is that Minnesotans don’t really know how to celebrate, but we managed to find a good party nonetheless: the Jack Brass Band played at Dixie’s on Grand, and there was southern food and piles of beads for everyone. It was a great time, and I can’t wait for their record release in a couple of weeks. That’s about the only thing that could get us to the Varsity, really.

Going backwards in time:

Monday we hung out and watched Coyote Ugly, because Cindi said I should see it, having been to the bar in Fort Lauderdale. I wish to have those two hours of my life back, please.

Sunday was the Superbowl. Duh. Holy crap, it was exciting. Eli Manning makes me laugh every time I see him, because he always looks either completely blank or incredulous. Also, Tom Brady is a douche, so it was fun watching him get knocked over by huge angry dudes.

Saturday, Matt and Wendy and I went to the Mall (where we made it rain on the 12-hour dance-a-thon), and to the Winter Carnival in St Paul. We then went to Lyle’s for Cindi’s birthday. She’d been telling us about the birthday donut she used to get as a kid, so I contacted her mom to ask about it. She shipped me a giant donut from North Dakota, and sent photos of what it was supposed to look like.

So Thursday I frosted the donut (my new favorite non-euphemism ever), and presented it to her on Saturday. WIN. Also, we watched the second Gophers-UND game, the one where there was a fight during the handshake (WHO DOES THAT?) and where the Sioux coach got suspended for flipping the bird. Hey! Sioux suck!

Friday night, we convened at Grumpy’s before the first Gophers game. Wendy and Cindi were going to meet us there for a drink and then go to Big 10 to watch it, or at least that’s what we told Cindi. When she got there, we handed her a ticket and all headed over to Mariucci Arena. It was a good game, the Gophers looked more like their usual selves, and the Sioux won in overtime with a really lucky goal batted out of the air a player in front of the net. Eh. Nobody got in a fight, and that’s what matters. It felt like it’d been forever since we’d seen a live game!

In other news, I started lifting again, and holy crap, I feel like at least 14 million bucks. It’s kind of amazing. I’m going slow because I’m worried about my neck injury and messed-up rotator cuff, but it’s been awesome. I’m sore every day in that way that means progress.

Matt came downtown for lunch today, and I had the awesomest sammich ever (bbq mock duck). I could only eat half of it, and I’m wishing I’d kept the rest here instead of sending it home with him, because I could be using that as a pillow right now.

Happy Mittwoch!
Jenni
