Dear Non-American Friends:
Many of you have emailed me in recent days asking what the hell we Americans are thinking. I’m getting tired of typing the same thing over and over, so here’s my response to all of you. It may seem very hard to believe, but not all of us are hateful, reactionary war-mongers. In fact, there are quite a few of us who are completely opposed to this war, and any kind of military conflict in general. We’re not represented by the media, so you don’t really hear about the rational majority. I hope it’s the majority, at least (I mean, the majority of us didn’t even vote for Dubya, right?). We’re not believers in the religion of capitalism, western supremacy, and imperialism. We think that for the most part, people everywhere are the same. We just want to live peacefully and be happy. And we hope that the ridiculous and potentially catastrophic decisions being made by the out-of-control war machine are not completely irreparable. Thanks for listening.Jenni
