Cutestuff

Hey, you!

You know when you have about 8 million good ideas for stuff you want to do, and you know you’re never, ever going to get the time to accomplish all of them, not even if you quit your job and take up a meth habit? It’s frustrating. Although, really, I’d take that over being uninspired any day. So I guess it’s not all bad.

As you know by now, I am a fan of unusual and interesting stuff. And I’ve been finding a lot of it lately, and much of it has been on my person as I make my daily travels. The other day at Starbucks, the barista exclaimed, “Oh my god! I love your purse! And, oh my god, your wallet! And your ring!” I didn’t show her my new Hello Kitty phone with magical rainbow-flashing keypad, or she might have gone into cardiac arrest.

I don’t know if having (and liking) this stuff is weird, but it’s amusing. Whenever I show people my phone, they want to call it to see it light up. I’ve gotten four calls from Dunn Brothers while I’m standing there at the counter. If I were to download some Village People ringtones, I’d have myself a mobile dance party.

Let’s see. I’m sure I have some other deeply fascinating news for you.

Much of this weekend was taken up by geeky pursuits. As I previously noted, our days with the ex-webhost were numbered. I found a new ASP host that actually provided the diverse array of features we needed, and for an unheard-of price. I keep thinking it’s too good to be true, but everything is up and running and the DNS transfers are all underway. Do you have any idea what it’s like to relocate four websites at once? When they’re all data-driven and cobbled together over 7 years’ time? It sucks. But now, please welcome plinko, creamedpeas, 404lab, and this very site to their new homes. If you’re reading this, then I think everything went just fine. Also, I put a couple hours of work into some fancy redirection scripts for our 404 handler, so hopefully all those links won’t break. I cringe at how ugly that page is, but it’s a classic. I can’t change it, because it was the inspiration for an entire site.

Lastly, it’s been a while since I’ve said his name here. Not for lack of caring, mind you. So here it is:

Last night, we had dinner with the SEXIEST MAN ALIVE.
