Soren is sexy.

Oh, hey.

I’ve been meaning to mention this, but things have been crazy around here. I’ll try to keep it short.

See ‘The Fog of War‘. Here are the 11 lessons. I scribbled them down in the dark of the Lagoon Theatre just for you. Well, me. But I’m in a sharing mood.

  1. Empathize with your enemy.
  2. Rationality will not save us.
  3. There’s something beyond one’s self.
  4. Maximize efficiency.
  5. Proportionality should be a consideration in war.
  6. Get the data.

  7. Belief and seeing are both often wrong.
  8. Be prepared to reexamine your reasoning.
  9. In order to do good, you may have to engage in evil1.
  10. Never say never.
  11. You can’t change human nature.

I’m intensely fascinated by Cold War politics. Especially the concept of mutual assured destruction, in which the only reason we didn’t launch nuclear attacks is that we’d be destroying ourselves as well. So what’s keeping the U.S. in check nowadays? Nothing, obviously. It’s just a matter of time before the military decides their dicks are looking a little too small, and it’s time for a real show of power. Just because, you know, we can. We might as well.

That’s some scary shit.

P.S. Re: my earlier post today, from Jason:

I should know by now to not try to read your blog hastily…for a second there I thought it said you lost your job AND got pregnant….

1 One of my favorite phrases ever: the teleological suspension of the ethical. Hot, like Kierkegaard.
