Whoa.
I can’t believe you folks keep coming back here. Hi! So, I just stopped in to tell you you won’t be hearing from me for a while. Haha. No, really. This is a calculated absence, as opposed to the usual ‘what the hell does the internet care about my life?’ crap. On Thursday, I’m going to Hawaii. We’re flying into Honolulu, then flying to the big island the next day. We’ll spend a few days volcano-hiking and black-sand-beach-laying, then we’ll go to Maui for the 4th of July. After more volcanoes and waterfalls and rainforests and beaches, we’ll return to Oahu for a few days, then be home on the 10th. I haven’t been able to read the travel guide since the first day I went through it; I get so excited and overwhelmed I can’t deal with it. I’ll just read each section when we get there. I have packed a collapsible duffel bag in my suitcase, just in case I need that much space for souvenirs. It’s practically a guarantee. I will take no fewer than two million photos, some of them good, and I will possibly even emerge from the near-20 hours of flight time with a finished sweater. I’m sincerely hoping that Northwest Airlines waits to close up shop until after I return, or I will be crabby. Other news in brief:- I have a new niece!! Melody Ripley was born Friday in Orlando. Yes, we’re leaving the babymaking up to my brother and his wife. It’s best for everyone that way.
- I have regained my health and the stifling depression has receded. Of course, I’m fucking irate half the time, but in my book, that’s better than depressed any day. I’m working on reclaiming the fitness. It’s suffered two and a half months of damage, but it’ll be back soon enough. I missed the gym like crazy. I hope it missed me, too.
- Tomorrow is my last night of Iaido for two weeks. I’ve had private lessons for a month now. Apparently we have a new student joining tomorrow, which will be nice because it’s intimidating doing the practice fighting with Shifu. He could totally slice me in half if he wanted to, even with a wooden bokken.
- I tend to put much more of my life on my LJ nowadays. You’ll be missing half of it if you don’t have an account there, so you should sign up and make yourself known to me and life will be beautiful, my friend. I promise you.
- When I return from vacation, I must dispose of one vehicle and procure another. I’m a huge fan of test-driving, so this will be highly entertaining to me. If you know someone who wants a well-loved
gently-usedSaab named Chico, let me know.
