Howdy.

Yesterday morning, Jane walked in and told me Chico had a flat tire. After much cursing from my side of the room, we took him to the gas station to fill up the tire (it wasn’t on the rim yet, which is strange because usually I blow-out in style), then over to Tires Plus. At that point, I decided it must’ve been a sign, a gentle reminder from beeeeyonnnnd, to deal with the shit I’d been putting off.

Chico really needed an oil change. I know this because he told me FILL COOLANT FLUID every time I started him up. Clearly, we speak in code. I also know that TIGHTEN FUEL FILLER CAP means ‘it’s hot outside and you only have a gallon left in the tank’. I’m usually really good about this stuff, but I’ve been so damn busy and out-of-town that I can’t put together a few hours to take him in for an oil change, and doing it myself parked on my street seems ill-advised.

They changed his oil (with the oil I gave them, because theirs just isn’t good enough), patched his tire, and then did a 500-point inspection (or something) for $10 because the other day I had this rattling that seemed directly related to one of the pins popping out of my brakes. Remember that time I told you all how to murder me, by pulling the pins that hold the brake pads on? Yeah! Exactly.

$50 later, Chico is good as newish, and I’m kind of psyched about that. Now if I’d just file that insurance claim and get his butt fixed. I don’t want to overwhelm him all at once, though.

Last night, we went to see The Dukes of Hazzard. That movie was painfully stupid (as expected), and absolutely hysterical at times. When Bo said ‘I’ve got my BFF’, we fell out. I’m still laughing about it. Also, I’ve always had it bad for Johnny Knoxville, reckless, dangerous jackass that he is. I think it’s funny that people were mad that Daisy Duke’s character was dumbed-down, because she was pretty smart on the show. It’s not because they made the character stupid. It’s because Jessica Simpson can’t even pretend to be smart. Hello.

So today, my horoscope says, ‘You’re going to want a record of the amazing and lovely things that are going to happen to you right now.’ Dude! Tell me about it.

I booked our tickets to Budapest and Prague this morning. I was so excited about it I had to go out in the hall and breathe before I made the call. We’re going November 20-27. We fly from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Budapest, take the train to Prague, then fly back through Amsterdam. The flights dropped $200 between yesterday and today. I’m so excited I’ve had to force myself to not do any research on it yet. It prevents me from paying attention to everything else.

I think I have travel-related ADD.

I had more, but my plans have snuck up on me again. I’ll be back!
