We locked ourselves in the house from 6pm Friday to midnight last night to play trivia. And not just any trivia, but the World’s Largest Trivia Contest. When they stopped reading the scores after hour 47, we were in 2nd place, losing by almost 800 points. When I woke up this morning, I learned that we’d won by 55 points. AWESOME. Also, our teammates are the best.
In the downtime between questions, one of my goals was to narrow down a list of options for vacation rentals in Vieques. We looked at about a hundred of them and choose two favorites. I heard back from the best option today, so this is where we’re staying! Our own hacienda on a hill in a nature preserve overlooking the Bioluminescent Bay… and it has pick-your-own coconuts and mangoes. They’re going to have to drag us out of there screaming. Once that’s finalized we’ll book flights to the island, reserve a jeep, and we’ll be set.
I also did some work on my MVC web project this weekend, and holy crap, I’m loving Bootstrap. As a person who’d far rather focus on the data and business logic, I absolutely love how easy it makes the UI part of things. I’ve implemented roles-based authentication (also super-easy with SimpleMembership) and custom activity logging, so I guess now I could actually start writing the bulk of the controllers and views.
My in-laws have just arrived in Minneapolis, so we’ll be spending a couple of evenings with them. They came into town partly so we could pick out places to stay for our trip to the Keys this October, and also to see our Jamaica pictures. Hopefully those things will distract from YET ANOTHER SNOWSTORM TONIGHT. Sigh.
This weekend we’re heading to Washington DC! So listen, Minnesota: it better be spring when we return.
