Man.
It’d be a total cop-out to resort to the outline format again, even though I want to. Too little time to write lately! Last week was busy. One night, Kaye made really good enchiladas. One night, I went shopping very unsuccessfully at the mall, then my sister came over and got drunk while I painted my toenails on my couch. One night, Chris and I went to Chatterbox and to see The 40 Year Old Virgin, which was way funnier than I expected. Also, he has a bokken now. DANGER!! Saturday was Kaye’s Halloween party. I went over there earlyish and we spent the day running around dangerously near Frogtown in search of supplies. Now, if you want to have a really good party, you should hire her. She had black lights, a ghost hanging in the entryway, spiderwebs everywhere, a creepy scarecrow hiding behind the shower curtain, black curtains, and halloween-themed food. We went out and got a fog machine and strobe light, then went up the street to collect two garbage bags full of leaves and dumped them all over the floor. IT WAS AWESOME. I have more photos of people from the party, but I don’t want to ask them all for permission. I’m lazy today. Here are a few: the best part of this photo is the doughboy.leaves everywhere

attacked by the headless scarecrow My favorite part of the party, though, was everybody meeting everybody. And liking everybody, it seemed. The worst part was having to introduce everybody, because I’m terrible with names. I loved the costumes. Adrianne was the cutest nurse ever. Jon was a Canadian spaceman. Kaye reprised the zombie princess. Bertine had the nerdiest costume as a character from Civ II, but it was perfect. Lou was a blog, and we got to write comments on his shirt. Russ was a witch doctor, I think… all I know is it’s hard to talk to someone in full face-makeup. Serinia was a zombie hunter. Eric came as himself (a drunk guy from the army). I was scurvy, as my costume was cruelly wrenched from my hands last week. Tom was Space Ghost in full spandex. Then there was karate guy, two South Dakotans, and the several people who didn’t come in costume and I was too nice to wrap up into toilet-paper mummies, even though I had threatened to. This quote from Keith summed it up: I knew I was at the right place when through the open window I hear, “Can we just agree on where to put the duct tape?” Hahaha. It was such a good time. We must do this again soon. Sunday I got home around 10 and found that Chloe had done some more I-hate-you puking, which she always does when I’m gone overnight. It’s her way of making sure I know. I baked these gravestone brownies for the work potluck Monday, then went over to the parents’ to visit with the out-of-town siblings: my brother Scott and family. My new niece, Melody, is the smiliest baby. She’s the cutest thing! Here’s Scott and Melody, and my upside-down niece, Kaitie. And just because, here are a few more photos I took this weekend. fall

neon Also on Sunday, I discovered my voice was back. That boded well for not being a victim of the consumption anymore. Yesterday, my lungs were feeling less packed-full-of-foam-rubber, so I decided to go back to the gym. It sucked a lot; my heartrate was kind of alarming, and afterwards I felt wheezy like perhaps I actually had emphysema instead of tuberculosis. AND THEN the heavy bag was down again. It was laying in a plastic bag wrapped in duct-tape on the floor, like the victim of a mob hit. The horror! Last night I caught up on all my finances and decided to put $2500 aside from this paycheck and not touch it until December 1st. Then I’ll use it to pay off whatever I spend in Europe (20 DAYS!!!), and put the rest in my SEP-IRA. Me, not spending extra money? That’s going to be funny. We’ll see how it goes. I also took a very very long bath, which is one of my favorite things to do and therefore one of those things I forget to do regularly, mostly due to time constraints. I make tea and bring a book, then end up not reading the book because it’s nicer to lay there and relax and be in love with everything. So nice. Thinking about it makes me sleepy, so I’m going to go take a nap under my desk now. Seeing you soonly,
Jenni
