Updating on two consecutive days? This is news!

Last night, I was dining on spaghetti squash and homemade sauce with zucchini and mushrooms and lentils (thanks J), thinking about heading to the gym, when I heard a loud buzzing noise. It turned out to be the building fire alarm. I went out in the hallway and ran into my neighbor, Mrs Hooper. We found the odd lady upstairs, Simon’s owner, hurriedly opening the hallway windows in her bathrobe. She yelled something about her stove and pointed upstairs, embarrassed. We went back to our apartments.

I couldn’t leave my house, though, until the firemen came to shut off the alarm. Because, somehow, just the alarm going off meant the building was going to burn down, and I couldn’t leave my cats to that fate. I even thought about loading them in their cages, just in case it might really happen.

They showed up quickly and turned it off and all was well. But, man, it’s funny how a 10-year-old incident can still be so burnt into your brain. No pun intended.

Last night, I had a thought in the shower and of course couldn’t let it go, so instead of sleeping, I wrote an RSS feed for 404lab‘s 404 of the week. Besides the fact that the site desperately needs to be brought into the modern internet era, I had a very good reason: it’ll force me to update it more often. Ever since I put ads on the site and started getting paid for it, I’m very aware of just how many people visit; on average, it has 1,000 visitors daily. They demand fresh content!

I’m also going to add a feed for new additions to the site, too, but I think I should probably rewrite the backend first. That hinges on the completion of ASP.NET class, though, so expect that this summer sometime.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before or no, but you can find all the RSS feeds in my world by clicking the RSS feed link to the left.

I accomplished everything on my to-do list last night, which means I should probably get to the real reason I stopped by to write:

My Bahamas travel journal!!!

It’s strange to think I was there less than a month ago. And I’m not taking another trip til April? Ow.

OK, I’m totally spoiled.

Ever thought of charging for these questions? Proceeds to go to the fundraiser, of course!

a:
No, but holy pingu! I’m not above pandering. $10 for gossip about my friends, $50 for my dirty secrets.
