Noooo!
I have a whole week of catching-up to do? Ridiculous. It’s Sunday night and I’m hurrying. I keep getting yelled at by my RSS-checker to add a guid, so I did so. We shall see if things continue to work, eh? Thankfully, this week was quiet, so I don’t have much rambling to do. I worked a lot, went to the gym a lot (I lost 2.5lbs this week!), and knitted a lot. I raised $210 in my robot pledge drive, and I have seven robots to make! I’m working on the second now; I started blocking and assembling #1 (literally) on Friday. ROBOTS RULE. I’m currently at $2,343 in my fundraising. I’m sure I will eventually raise my goal, but for now I’m enjoying having reached it. Need I mention that you guys are awesome? Thanks again for your support. Tuesday was the last night of VB.NET class, which means I’m halfway done. It hasn’t been as painful a commitment as I had expected. We learned to both write and consume web services in about half an hour. I could barely contain my excitement, because this is the kind of shit that makes me dangerous. SO FUN. At the end of class, Christopher passed out graduation certificates and shook all of our hands. I’m totally a programmer now, and I have the piece of paper to prove it. In two days, we start ASP.NET! Thursday night, Kaye and I went to see Mystic India at the Omnitheatre (it’s currently Omnifest), and we both now need to go to India. It’s funny how the film made it seem so clean and idyllic. We also saw Mars 3-D, crashed barges into St Paul (seriously, it makes me insane that we cannot successfully pilot barges, even on the easy level), and saw the exhibit with the memory wire, which is still fascinating me even now. You can bend or compact it into any shape, then apply heat or electric current and it regains its original shape. I want my Mini made of THAT. Speaking of which, my Mini is still in the factory. I won’t have a delivery estimate on him until they put him on the ship from England. Friday I was supposed to go out with grabass boy (who might someday actually get a more fortunate name, but I love this one), but he ended up having to work til 2am. He owns 80% of his company and is therefore somewhat handcuffed to it; he’s trying to change that. We’ve been talking on the phone a lot lately, which is kind of nice. It shouldn’t be surprising that I’m not in a huge hurry to spend lots of time with him, I suppose. I like him a lot, we have plenty in common, but god knows I panic easily about these things. Slow is good. Um, as far as the NCAA hockey tournament, let’s pretend like this never happened. I cried. October is so far away. Yesterday, Wendy and I went to the 3day kickoff event and got all hyped up about it, if it was even possible to be moreso. Mostly we walked around listening to people’s fundraising ideas. I also had to write my name on everything (3day flag, letter-to-the-future, ‘why we walk’ book), because that’s how I am. Afterwards, we drove up to the bowling alley that’s hosting BOWLING-FOR-BOOBS (the officially-sanctioned, non-offensive name is ‘Bowling for the Cure’, but something tells me you guys can handle it), to take photos and plan out how we’d set up. The event is on Saturday, April 22. Mark your calendars! We’ll have flyers with more info soon. We currently have over $700 in raffle prizes! Today finally felt like SPRING in Minnesota. I walked out of the gym in a tshirt for the first time this year. In the afternoon, Wendy and Stephanie and I went a-walkin’ down to Lake Calhoun, which was crowded with people who totally thought they could’ve been wearing their bathing suits, it was so nice out. Or maybe that was just me? Anyway. Wendy walked part of the way with a sieve she found at a free-sale on her head, and both of them thought that walking on the slushy-mushy lake was a really great idea. I hate being the voice of reason. The rest of today, we did exciting things like watch a really drunk and alone guy at Herkimer (which was painfully sad), doze off on the couch and wake up drooling (I got laughed at), knit the back of robot #2, think about maybe having a dinner party, and write this. Future plans for the evening include: taking a bath. I think perhaps I overexercised today. I’m already pre-freaking over the fact I’ll be out of town next weekend. I always do that; something about thinking I should get a weekend and a vacation. Uh, yeah. Til next time. Hopefully sooner!Jenni
