OH MAN.
I’m spending exactly 24 hours not owning a car. I got a call Tuesday night before class from a girl who saw the ad on CarSoup. She went to the parents’ to drive him (I warned her that my mom would probably try to offer her dinner), and I went to class, and after class she made an offer. When she told me she was currently driving around in a car named Lola, I knew it was a perfect fit. So, last night, she came over and we did the paperwork and she left with Chico. I was a tiny bit sad about my car. We’ve been everywhere together. But I’d have been heartbroken trading him in, so I’m really, really glad to sell him to someone I know will love him like I do. It worked out perfectly. Also, I guess I have a date next week with the guy who drove him on Sunday. Huh! Today I went to the bank and got one check for the loan payoff, and another for the new loan on my Mini. I switched my insurance. Then Gretchen called to tell me to meet her at BMW at 5:30, BECAUSE MIGUEL IS READY TO BE PICKED UP!!!!!!!!!! I’m totally not making it to class tonight, but I am making it to Team Awesome dinner because it’s Dining Out For Life. Oh my god, I’m excited about my car. I’m going to try to distract myself with writing about other things now. So, last night Stephanie and I went out shopping in search of flipflops and a phone. At least, that was what was on my list. See, it’s finally time to upgrade my should-have-been-temporary Nokia 3220, the one that’s ended up being pretty damn awesome with its disco lights and wienermobile ringtone and the fact that it worked in Europe. However, my Mini has bluetooth and will mute the stereo, pick up the call, and broadcast it over the speakers for me. Since it’s hard to hold a phone while driving a stick, this seems to be the awesomest thing ever. I was highly-recommended the T-Mobile MDA, and I loved the keyboard and cameraphone that has a higher resolution than my first digital camera. I got it, took it home, and started playing with it. I haven’t had a PDA in a long time, so it was shockingly high-tech compared to what I’d seen before. But I have qualms about having more than I need; it’s cool that it’s an mp3 player, but I have an iPod already, you know? That stuff doesn’t really impress me if I’m not going to use it. So I spend the night with my MDA, and when I rolled over and saw him laying there next to me this morning, I knew our short-lived affair was over. The alarm was going off, and I had to pull out the stylus, open a menu, and click a button to hit ‘snooze’. HELL NO. I’m going to exchange him for a phone that’s mostly a phone, just with a nicer camera and bluetooth. If it has a highly-functional contacts list I can sync with my computer, that’ll be a plus. I’ve wanted to dump Yahoo calendar ever since Google and I hooked up. Decided at the T-Mobile store last night: if I could choose one company to provide me every product and service from now on, it’d be Google. The amount of shared-calendaring we already do is insane. And awesome. I think they should open a Mpls office, because obviously they’d have to hire me. OK, it’s time to run. Don’t tell my dad, but I was going to punch myself in the head if I had to drive the sexymobile any longer. Did you know Neons don’t have turbo? Right. DEAR MIGUEL, I’M ON MY WAY!!Jenni
