26 days til christmas! 2

Oh god, I’m bad at typing! I do enough updating of other sites (i.e. InfoQ, 404lab, and occasionally even my travel journal) that I forgot about this one. You may not mind that, but I will when I have to search for something on here in 10 years.

first game back at mariucci (323/365)

There hasn’t been too much earth-shatteringly exciting going on, and that’s totally fine with me, because it’s what I want this time of year. We got our first chance to see the Gophers at Mariucci this season (where we hung out with another awesome and long-suffering Gophers fan), and while they’ve stumbled a little bit lately, I still have faith in our chances this year. (Because, holy crap, is Nick Bjugstad good.) My sister will be joining us at the game this Saturday, and I expect nothing less than a 47-0 win. That’s reasonable, right?

thanksgiving table (328/365)

Thanksgiving was excellent. My in-laws (saying that is as funny as saying ‘husband’) arrived Wednesday, and stayed til Sunday. We had a great meal with my family and Wendy and Amelia, and I was thrilled at the opportunity to get out the Wedgwood china, even though I only have 8 place settings. (I can feel Martha Stewart rolling her eyes right now.) We ate the same meal for the rest of the weekend; it was even better in leftovers-form, so I think next year we should just make Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday and let it hang out in the fridge until Thursday.

finished xmas tree! (330/365)

The rest of the long weekend was dedicated to house projects, putting up the Christmas tree, shopping, and watching sports. Saturday night, we took them to see Jack Brass Band at Memory Lanes, and Harlan bowled for the first time in 42 years. He beat me, of course, but I was at least right on average.

Sunday afternoon, we went to my parents’ house to celebrate their 40th anniversary. (At 2.5 months, Matt and I have some catching up to do.) Though I’d always known the story of how my parents met (he a DEA agent setting up phone taps, she the person making that happen at the phone company), I didn’t know that they started dating in February and got married in November. That blows my mind.

And speaking of married things—I get a pass to speculate on this stuff because it’s all new to me—you know how you laugh at those people who have couples’ email addresses? Well, I’ve started to be crabby about things like the fact that you can’t share an Amazon Prime account (I mean, you can just log in with the same address, but it’s still a personal account), and the fact that all our rewards programs are separate. So what I’m saying is: give me a few more months and you’ll probably be emailing me at mattandjenniareawesome@gmail.com.
