Man, I’m having a lot of trouble sitting still right now. It’s almost time to be outside for the weekend.
First: ALASKA PHOTOS! That’s less than half the number I actually took! Travel journal is also forthcoming, but don’t expect it anytime soon. It took me four days to recover from the jet lag; it’s not so much even the time difference (it’s only three hours, after all), but the fact it’s light out 24 hours a day in Alaska, so you only sleep when you’re ready to die from exhaustion. I seem to have adjusted in time for the killer heat to set in. AWESOME. This week has really been ideal as far as returning-to-life-from-vacation without being totally overwhelmed. Tuesday I hung out with Cindi and Matt on the patio at Suzi’s, and Wednesday I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean with Stephanie, then had a date with my Alaska-sized bag of laundry. Last night, we celebrated Bill’s birthday at Town Talk and then the Hexagon; Town Talk is destined to become one of my favorite places ever due to their vegefriendly menu (tempeh sammich, I love youuuuu!), their ridiculously creative drink menu (with much fondness for bourbon and brandy), their staff, and the amusing encounters with people outside. At the Hexagon, an old guy asked me for my number as I was walking in the door, completely drenched and squishy from the rainstorm. Since we couldn’t avoid the downpour, I decided to celebrate it by stomping in puddles and wading in the flooding street. We played pulltabs and I beat Wendy soundly at pool, which is absolutely unheard-of and probably had something to do with whiskey. When we got home, the po-po were waiting for Cindi. Well, not really, but it sounds better that way. And now I’m rushing, because I’m leaving very soon to begin my weekend of Minneapolis and music and being-outside even though it’s supposed to be 102 on Sunday. DUDE. Y’all watch yourselves with the heat stroke, now. You can come over and use my robotic air conditioner if you want; I probably won’t be there, so maybe pet the cats some, too? Thanks!! Jenni
