I always remember to post on the one I get paid for, though! Funny how that works.
Events in which we’ve partaken recently:
– a wedding shower that Matt’s work threw for us, involving pie and an awesome contribution to our honeymoon fund
– a shopping trip to the Mall of America for groomsman socks, which instead resulted in us getting new phones (I seriously love this phone, too!)
– the Jamaican Independence Day show at Red Sea with the Dropsteppers, Prizefighters, and Dred I Dread, followed by dinner and drinks at Triple Rock and Palmers with Marc
– the nerdy Googling-from-the-couch part of the Minneapolis Challenge, while Kris and Orsi ran 6 miles, took 3rd place, and then bought us a bunch of shots and beer with their winnings (while playing bocce at the Nomad)
– a visit to the bar at the new Bachelor Farmer
– our first in-person Twins loss, against the Red Sox
– happy hour with Wendy, Madelyn, and Amanda, during which 5 boxes of freezy-pops changed hands in preparation for the 3-Day (guess what our freezers are full of right now??)
– a super-exciting visit to the rheumatologist, where I was told that signs are good that I don’t have the scary autoimmune disease I was being tested for, but I get to go have a salivary gland biopsy to be 100% positive (I’m just going to keep saying ‘salivary gland biopsy’ until it doesn’t sound quite so horrifying, or until I go have it done next Thursday)
– an 800-meter swim, which means we’re totally ready for the slowest triathlon possible
– a drive to the airport to drop Matt off for his bachelor party weekend in Kansas City, which was being kept a surprise from him until he got his ticket at 7:30 this morning (when I told my boss, she said we were going to fly there, pick him up, and take him to NYC instead, and that Missy and Joe could come, too). It also involved a surprise stop in Omaha due to bad weather!
This weekend I plan to make the house extra-clean (it’s very neat right now, but I’ve been neglecting the actual cleanliness), do some wedding-related shopping, make and can my salsa for the state fair (Matt already made his, so he’s way ahead of me), walk Lake Street from Calhoun to the Mississippi with Wendy and take lots of photos along the way (#29 on my 101 Things list… it better not rain, dammit!), possibly spend tomorrow night bar-hopping in East St Paul with Orsi, and do some work on my mini-golf hole for work. I bought two giant rolls of duct tape and a red plastic ball, and that’s as much of a hint as I’m going to give out right now.
It’s exactly 37 days til the wedding, and I feel like I should be freaking out about that more than I am. I went through two solid weeks of worry and nightmares around the time of the invitation printing, but now that those are done and we’ve been receiving RSVPs daily, things have seemed much easier. We have a very detailed to-do list that we’ve been steadily working through, and most of what’s left is just the fun stuff: craft projects, organizing, bachelorette party, yet another shower, rehearsal planning, etc. That’s not to say I expect the next month to be easy, just that it’s not the giant panic attack I figured it would be. Hell, we even managed an international vacation a few weeks ago.
And speaking of that, I have finished writing about Bermuda, so go read it! Now!
