I don’t want to be all TGIF on you guys, but seriously. I am indeed quite thankful about that.
After work yesterday, Kirby and I went for the hour of happiness. We were just going to hang out for a bit and head home before the show, but the next thing we knew, it was 7pm, and we were celebrating Scotty G’s birthday with him. I kind of love Kieran’s a lot. Kirby went home, and I went to retrieve Cin and headed back downtown. Our original plan was to fulfill a lifelong, extremely stupid dream: to bar-hop our way to the show at all of the bars on First Avenue that we’d normally fear entering, lest we be date-raped or suddenly find ourselves with two kids and a condo in Eden Prairie. Since we were presented with alternate dinner plans, however, we decided to at least get one of those destinations in beforehand. So we went to Drink.Having been there, I can now very happily never return. Pretty much everyone in that place was dressed like Cindi at Halloween. It was awesome, if by ‘awesome’ I mean ‘painfully lame’. Also, super funny.
We met up with Matt and Julia at Old Chicago, where our server told us she was the interior designer of the club we were going to later. We dined and drank, and around 9:30 I ran over to Foundation to see if I could pick up my tickets yet, and was propositioned twice during the block-long walk. The doors technically didn’t open til 10, but I managed to get inside and see the place almost empty. And I fell in love.We had a brief (unsuccessful) stop at Augie’s, then the pizza place across the street, and finally we got into Foundation. Kirby and Oscar arrived, and the bad ideas really began to flow, primarily in the form of bottle service. So funny. We had champagne with strawberries (hey, it was cheaper than Hennessy), and we were big pimpin’.
I ran into Adam (the co-op gangsta, who Kirby already knew, because he knows everyone), Adrianne (hence the lipstick all over my face), and Nick from Town Talk. Cut Chemist came on somewhere around 11:30, followed by Lyrics Born close to 1am. We danced and sang and yelled and holy shit, it was fantastic. I want to live at Foundation, and I want Lyrics Born on stage every night. I want the $50 corking fee waived every day, too. The show wrapped up around 2:30, and I managed to get to bed shortly after 3am, after spending far too long standing in the shower, drinking from my Camelbak bottle. I was an hour late to work today (I did have the courtesy to warn them yesterday), but feel surprisingly awesome, considering. If I get an hour or two to take a nap before going out tonight, however, I will be extremely glad about that. Let us meet here again tomorrow, dudes. I’m going to break my longstanding tradition of not internetting much on the weekends, just to keep up this posting challenge. Until then!Jenni
