proud to be nameless.

Welcome back! I have returned from the best weekend ever, as always.

Friday, Matt and I celebrated three months with a very low-key and awesome evening consisting of dinner at Grumpy’s, then chillin’ on the couch with The Office and Survivor. YES, I watch tv sometimes now, holy crap, and I love both those shows a lot. Especially The Office.

We slept very late Saturday, which was actually a very well-thought-out tactic to not die later in the evening, though I admit I’d have been down with staying in bed all day regardless. We ran errands that were limited to a 1-1/4 block radius, then he made awesome brunch and we played canasta, which I lost. But I always lose, and I wouldn’t want to upset tradition too much. (Speaking of which, dudes, I still hold onto my dream of a 1960’s-style card club. Folding tables, canapes, sidecars… you know what I’m talking about. Are you in or what?)

Afterward, I ran home to attend to the cattle and bake cupcakes to celebrate another anniversary, that of awesome. These cupcakes were devil’s food with buttercream frosting and a chocolate buttercream filling, and I hear tell they were quite good indeed. I shall be frosting the other half of them tonight and distributing them throughout the land.

‘Round about six, we headed out to Sean’s for KVSC trivia, a fifty-hour weekend-long competition that had begun at five on Friday night. We were the overnight crew, and arrived to a bunch of bleary-eyed, manic people who had been surviving on caffeine and sugar for the last day. We hauled in more caffeine and sugar, took up positions on the couch with laptops, and didn’t move much from those spots for the next 14 hours, except to pee, get more caffeine, and to do group pirouettes in the kitchen. Hey, it helped us wake up.

We exited again Sunday morning; I dropped Matt off at his place and went home for a three hour nap, only attaining consciousness once when Chloe sneezed on my face at close range. I hauled my tired ass out of bed again at 1:45 and donned my Gophers hoodie for the most exciting thing to happen, well, since the last exciting thing that happened, WHICH IS STILL SAYING A LOT: the Skate with the Gophers. Oh, sweet jesus.

Stephanie, Cindi and I descended into the depths of Mariucci Arena, strapped on our skates, and took some laps around the ice I’ve spent so many hours staring at in the past few years. We sat in the penalty box and on the bench. A few members of the team were skating, too, but most of them were upstairs on the concourse signing autographs. So once we were done skating, we went to meet them. Needless to say, it was the best day ever.

Running on that adrenaline rush, Cindi and I picked Matt up again, and we headed back for the last two hours of trivia. It was frustrating and awesome and I’m already excited for next year. And someday we’re going to go to the parties in St Cloud, too.

The rest of the evening was spent couchbound, watching more of The Office, though Matt heroically braved the trip downstairs to meet the Luce delivery guy. Despite being in bed before 11, I’m still sleepy today. I think it may have had something to do with dreaming about Google searches, dammit.

And today? I’ve been sitting here grinning far more than is generally approved-of at work. I’m going to go home and attend to administrativa (read: dishes and catbox), then go on a date with Wendy and Matt (read: pimpin’), then hopefully be entirely unproductive for the rest of the evening (read: awesome). Since I was too lazy to link to them inline, you can just go look at all the photos by clicking this link that is going to happen… right… NOW.
