If you happen to work in downtown Minneapolis or at the University in the vicinity of Nicollet Mall or Washington Avenue, please step outside on Friday around lunchtime to see some of the 2,500 walkers on the Breast Cancer 3-Day this year.
They get up before the sun, shower in semi trailers, stand in line at medical tents to have their blisters attended-to, eat on the move, get rained on or sunburnt, and sleep in tiny tents in a park. Just to have the opportunity to walk 60 miles in a weekend, they’ve had to raise a minimum of $2,300 apiece. Over the same weekend last year, this event raised over six million dollars towards finding a cure for breast cancer.
Please go cheer them on. They deserve it.
