balk run?

Before the Twins game last night, Matt and I had dinner with his best friend from high school, who he hadn’t seen in seven years. We had a good time at the Depot, and Joel is the nicest drill sergeant I’ve ever met!

We accompanied them to their first game at Target Field, too, and I feel kind of bad about how the game turned out. We weren’t sitting together, but I assume they shared the same general sense of suffering we all did. For a game that went back-and-forth scorewise (and error-wise), it was some kind of torture. We left halfway through the 8th, and were home in time to see the Twins get the fans’ hopes up yet again, and then lose. YUCK.

The rest of this week has been gloriously quiet. We stayed home a few nights and did things like cook and garden and knit (me) and read man-magazines (Matt). My biggest accomplishment is finishing the body of my cardigan, which includes this lace:

I’m working on the arms now, and it’s going really quickly. It’s possible I’ll decide it’s not long enough, but I’ll finish the rest and then see what I think. It’s fairly easy to undo the bind-off and add a couple more inches.

Tonight we’re going to go bet on some ponies and play some cards, and tomorrow is Kristin and Andy’s wedding. I CAN’T WAIT!! I will hopefully have a million photos to share on Monday.
