even though we slept through italian lessons!

Buon giorno, signore e signori*.

First of all, the cruise days one and two are up on Flickr! We spent the first 48 hours at sea, so they’re mostly photos of the boat and us drinking on the boat. Later pictures will feature us drinking on islands, too.

Here is another list of some of the things we did. I’m sure more will filter back into my memory as I go through photos and my journal.

  • saw the forts in Old San Juan
  • snorkeled with sea turtles
  • drank rum punch on a catamaran
  • hunted for a note Willis and Katie left for us in St Thomas
  • had a Bushwacker at Paradise Point
  • skinnydipped in the ocean (I did, at least)
  • got stung by jellyfish
  • laid on the beach drinking daquiris
  • were left with 510 pesos in the Dominican Republic and had to walk back to the ship in the dark
  • became acquainted with Mama Juana
  • watched the sun set in Puerto Rico
  • got really sunburnt
  • built a substantial collection of yards from Senor Frog’s
  • set the boat on fire (Wendy!)
  • played shuffleboard
  • almost doubled my money playing blackjack
  • napped in a bar
  • wore togas
  • revisited my favorite restaurant in the Bahamas
  • went back to Atlantis
  • rode in an airboat in the Everglades
  • held a baby alligator

Last in cruise-related news, I almost have my land legs back (though my chair was rockin’ this morning), and McVities Go Ahead Crispy Slices (which come in apple/sultana and forest fruit varieties) are my favorite food ever. So much so that I brought six packages back from the Bahamas (I only bought 4 last time!) and am hoarding them in my cupboard. If anyone knows where to locate this fine British food here in the 612, please to be informing me RIGHT THIS SECOND.

So, this week! Monday evening was the Twins season opener, and Willis had a bunch of tickets for the game. Matt and I met up with him and Katie and their friends for some tailgating before the game, then met Wendy, Stephanie, and my parents at the Metrodome. The Twins won, but my favorite part of the game was that Katie was sitting behind me, giving me massages every half-hour. I’d probably have slept in my seat, were it not for fear of a fly ball to the head. After the game, we had some sorely-missed couch time, featuring Survivor and a sampling of the aforementioned Mama Juana. Ohhhhyes.

Last night, I went to Moxie for a haircut (the girl washing my hair said, “I don’t want to seem weird or anything, but you smell really good.”), recapped the last six weeks with Mahogany, then joined Wendy at Uptown Tattoo for her first tattoo!! I was supposed to get mine touched-up afterward, but they had my appointment down incorrectly, so I’m going next week instead. Totally fine with that, as I want to talk to him about my next piece, too. Afterward, we retrieved the newly-redheaded Cindi, and went to Town Talk. The dudes there were unusually, uh, festive, even for them; Nick fell down multiple times while jumping all over Peter, and Tim smacked my ass as we left. Oh, Town Talk. I did miss you a little.

This evening is 100% devoted to sitting around doing nothing with the boy. I cannot wait, and we have to save up because his parents are arriving in town tomorrow. I plan to use my extra time at home over the weekend to clean my house, because holy crap, I think the cats had a party while I was gone. Jerks.

Alright, dudes, it is time to go do things. Go look at photos, will you?
