snooze.

Guys, today is the best day ever for no specific reason except that, well, it just is. Also, as promised, here is a scan of my interview with Metro magazine. I went out and bought a copy the day my comp arrived, of course, so now I have two.

Friday evening, I baked a flourless chocolate cake for dinner on Saturday, and then joined Cindi, Wendy, and Willis for Awesome Pizza at Luce. We then crossed the street to Sawatdee, because the manager is one of Cindi’s old hometown pals; he had invited her to come drink there, and we were happy to oblige. Matt joined us with a bag of Easter candy from his parents, so Peeps tragically drowned in various beverages throughout the night. Also, John invented a shot for us, called the Moustache Ride. Hell yes.

After that, of course we had to go over to Betty Jean’s Chicken n Waffles. The food seemed really, really good at the time, but afterward none of us were terribly happy about that decision.

Saturday was a very big day for Miguel (who will be a year old in two weeks): his very first oil change. I took him to the BMW dealership, and hung out in the waiting room exploiting them for their extremely awesome coffee while peering over my knitting at the other patrons, who were definitely in the non-Mini-driving crowd. Everyone but me was wearing their Prada sunglasses indoors, and there were kids scooting around the floor on tiny Z4 Roadsters, wearing driving goggles. Also, CNN was on at too-loud-to-ignore volumes, and their broadcast consisted of only two things: stories of pets possibly killed by poison food (but probably not), and the history of the Pope. I’d have jabbed myself in the eyes with my knitting needles, but I needed them to stay occupied.

Round about cocktail-hour, I went to Matt’s to hang out with him and his parents. He made a really good stirfry, we played dominoes and canasta (I’d like to think we made an unbeatable team), and they seemed to like the cake a lot! I left sometime after 11, and realized that not being able to spend the night with the boy for three nights because his parents are in town is infinitely more torturous than the week I was on vacation, because he’s right down the street. Despite his folks’ immense awesomeness, I was very much looking forward to Sunday.

Yesterday, I went out to my parents’ for Easter brunch. My grandma is in town, and the visit with her was less stressful than I’d expected. We had a nice meal and sat around talking for a while, and then it was time for me to rush out the door as quickly as possible, because there was a boy at home on his couch waiting for me. We spent the rest of the day curled up in various forms of repose, and this is the reason why I’m so damn smiley today, despite the cold-Mondayness of it all.

This week, it promises to be excellent too. And before I go, dudes, you should go read about Team Boobylicious Trivia II. Registration is now open!
