This weekend was gorgeous, which means we spent a lot of time outdoor-dining. Saturday, I made roti as part of our awesome Caribbean meal. It involved making a bunch of vegetable curry (something I could eat as leftovers every day for a month), and dhalpouri (flatbread with a layer of ground turmeric-seasoned dal inside).

I was very, very proud of my results.

Matt made jerk chicken, rice and peas, and grilled pineapple. YUM.

Saturday night, we went to check out the new bars that opened near Target Field. Our quick review: Kieran’s looks just like the old Kieran’s, and the patio has fantastic people-watching. Smalley’s is uninteresting inside, but the bartenders are great and pour strong. Hubert’s is basically still NBA City, and has the same happy hour. The Brass Rail… ok, that’s not a new bar at all, but we’d never been in there. I LOVE IT. Just maybe don’t order a long island because you’re fascinated by how the bartender makes them. Eek.
Sunday, we grilled brunch, and Wendy, Amelia, Bill, and Katie joined us. It was so fun, I’d like to make it a tradition. Though maybe not the part where the grill started on fire because of bacon grease. It was touch-and-go for a few minutes.

In non-food-related news, we had our last week of bowling! I won $17! I’m going to miss our awesome bowling league, but we signed up for an entire season next year, and it’s sanctioned. Which means we’re professionals now, or something? We need some sweet embroidered shirts, that’s for sure.
I finished the monkey blanket for Bill and Katie, and just have to block it tonight. It’s SO CUTE. I started on a white lace shrug for myself, to hopefully accompany various dresses at weddings and such. Also, I told Wendy I’m going to wear sundresses all summer (like I did in the Caribbean), just to freak her out.
Today, as everyone within 200 miles knows, is the Twins home opener. I’d probably be a little envious of my friends who are going, had we not already been to the stadium. I’ll be watching at the gym, though!
