BEES ON YOUR FACE

So where were we?

Oh yes, Moondance. I have returned alive, though somewhat the worse for wear. Thankfully, I recover quickly!

Here are the things that featured prominently this weekend: the classic rock*, the camping, the hanging out around the campfire, the laughing til it hurt**, the grilling, the Moondance Olympiad***, the drinking, the card-playing, the seagull attack on Klein, the dancing, the peeing in the woods****, the sunburning, the Paul Bunyans, the liberating of the giant Soco banner, the fireworks accompanying the doin’ it*****, and the general awesome.

* SURPRISINGLY AND ALARMINGLY great: REO Speedwagon, Soul Asylum, Thundherstruck (the all-girl AC/DC cover band), Rick Springfield (seriously!)
** especially when Matt discovered that he speaks Spanish when drunk.
*** mainly bocce, but also some catch and a lot of walking to and from shows.
**** would you want to use port-a-potties at an event whose main feature is massive amounts of beer consumption? no.
***** highly recommended, if you can arrange it.

Also, Klein’s far more extensive recap of the event, complete with more pictures of his amazing man-perm.

On the return trip from Walker, we meandered through Brainerd taking pictures of Bunyans, then stopped in St Cloud for lunch and crafts. Reason #7,232 why Matt is awesome is that he doesn’t mind following me around in the largest craft store on the planet while I freak out over everything. We got home around 5pm and showered for a very, very long time. It was very good to not be stinky for once.

Yesterday, I mixed up Alton’s pretzel dough at home (um, I could not get the bowl off my stand mixer at all afterwards, what is up with that?), and it was about to burst through the plastic wrap by the time I got to Matt’s. We made four regular pretzels, then four filled with mozzarella cheese. These pretty much claimed ultimate victory; we were planning to go to the store for dinner-food after making them, but they were enough for a meal. And SO GOOD.

We walked over to Liberty Frozen Custard later last night, to see the incredible cuteness up close. As expected, they didn’t have anything sugar-free, but their menu looks awesome, and the place is amazing. They even have an old PEZ machine on the wall that only takes Austrian schillings, which they can sell you at the counter. After sitting outside for a while, we wound our way back to his apartment, taking a different route, and proved again why exactly it’s called Tangletown.

Items I have been working on lately:

  • moving Runaway Truck into WordPress at a new location
  • knitting! I’m working on Dashing and the most awesome toy ever right now, and I made Matt Twins wristbands at Moondance.
  • gathering items for our silent auction next month (more about that later, of course)
  • mentally preparing for my IUD appointment tomorrow, because ow.

And now it is time for some real work. Behave yourselves until I return.
