So, most days I don’t hate my job. But sometimes you get so caught up in something not working, that you want to kill. For me, I know it’s bad when I start losing my voice. I’m creaking at Michael, “NO! That still didn’t work!” while he rewrites shit and tells me to try it again. And again. And again. I was creating a new record in the database, and just wanted to return the ID column. But he rewrote everything so you can’t just call it, you have to say jump up and down three times and say a special prayer before it’ll happen. I hate that. I know there’s a reason, but I like straightforward code. Anyway, after about an hour of rewrites and recompiling and copying his files to my web server, I reloaded the page and finally saw what I was looking for: instead of that big old zero, I got my ID: 666.
