xmasfoo

So, I’m bugfixing today and my phone rings.

mom: Hi! We’re home from the airport! Scotty sent you a refrigerator!
me: He… what?
mom: Well, it’s the size of a refrigerator! And he sent us a card!

If there’s a surefire route to my mom’s affection, it’s making her all emotional at the holidays. Spoiling her daughter doesn’t hurt a bit, either.

I slid home on the ice this evening and was pleased to find a UPS slip for me amongst the constellation of delivery notices on the door. They told me they’ll be happy to bring me my Amazon box tomorrow during a time I’m guaranteed to not be home to sign for it again. I went to the website and requested to pick it up from them tonight; they just called to say they’re running slow with the ice today, so would I mind meeting the driver somewhere in the neighborhood?

Dude, I’m hoping it’s gonna be Dunn Brothers. That kills me. I’ll even buy them coffee; they’ve been out driving my present around all day, after all.

And my mailbox was packed full of cards and letters. I’m a total kid about xmas this year, I’m so excited. I found out today I’m hosting the family pre-xmas thang before we all head to gramma’s on the eve. It’s silly, but it’s kind of an honor. I’ll even go all-out and have something to eat besides tofu-pups and fruit.

OK, guessing I’m meeting Margaret, my UPS driver, at this weird shop at 40th and Lyndale. Is that across from Crema? I’ll buy her ice cream instead.
