i didn’t spellcheck this

Well!

You know why I love lists? They absolve me of the need for continuity. It’s an open invitation to non-sequitur. How nice is that?

  • The parents stopped over last night to see the place. They hadn’t been there since the move-in, so I gave them the tour. It’s funny that it doesn’t matter how old you are, your parents’ approval is still important.

They were impressed. I was happy. They even sat around and talked for an hour, which is highly unusual. I managed to have a full-blown attack of hypoglycemia while they were there, which of course would have to happen because it’s immensely alarming to my mother. I can be stable for a week, but the second my mom’s around, I’m ready to collapse. It was awesome to notice I had the cold sweats so badly that it was dripping down the legs of my jeans and onto my bare feet.

Speaking of which, I have come to realize that one of the times I’m almost certain to have a blood-sugar crash is while shopping. I have absolutely no idea why that is. I like shopping. It’s not upsetting at all. It’s really bizarre. So yes, you will always find me taking measures to prevent this before heading to the mall. I’m probably the only person applying sports-nutrition principles to shopping.

  • It freaked me out this morning when I completed and emailed my 15th monthly invoice to this company. Fifteen months. I didn’t really have any expectations about what would happen to my career after the big layoff (now almost two years into the foggy past), but I’m pretty damn happy about how things turned out. My family focuses on the ‘making a lot of money’ part; what makes me happiest is that I have total work freedom. I remind myself of that fact every time I’m bitching about the billion dollars I pay every three months in taxes, or about how I’m going to be funding my own medical bills again.

  • Free advice: If you’re trying to get help from Amazon about a non-delivered gift, perhaps do not forward them an email in which you call them ‘fuckers’. I learned this the hard way.

  • Chele knows about the downtown-birds as well, and is equally as creeped-out by them. For now, they seem to just be amassing; I’m more concerned about the deployment stage.

  • Well, dammit, I was gonna write about New Year’s plans, but I just got busy. (And not in a good way.)

More later.

Promise!
Jenni
