Sweeeeeet.

Holy crap!

How often do I update on a Saturday? We were going to go see Kinsey, but I’m too sleepy to even want to go see a movie about sex.

  1. I love my early-Saturday-morning cleaning ritual a little too much. But there’s something so awesome about having a perfectly clean house before the weekend really begins.

  2. After the stores opened, I went out in search of a dresser. My lack of bedroom-storage is starting to bother me. I went to a couple stores and found several things that would be fair-to-middlin’, but I’m having trouble settling. I didn’t realize I had such a fear of dresser-commitment, but apparently I do. The search for perfection usually proves worthwhile, however.

While I was oot, I of course started wandering and found a store that wanted to sell me beautiful slate blocks for SO cheap, and then I spied this other shop that had immediate appeal, because it was all about good health.

I meandered in and was sprung-upon by employees. Since the store was brand new, they still had that overenthusiastic 5:1 employee to customer ratio, and I couldn’t round the end of an aisle without being asked if I needed assistance. The store seemed interesting; they had a pharmacy, nutrition center on the order of GNC, natural health and beauty products, exercise equipment, holistic crap, a spa, salon, Caribou Coffee, and the Geek Squad in a little electronics section selling iPods, which seemed a little out of place. It started to feel like it wasn’t so much about healthy living as just whatever was trendy right now. I found most everything overpriced, in keeping with a store that had about 20% product-to-retail space, but they did have really cheap vitamins.

I took my supplements to the counter and was being asked all manner of probing personal information just to make a $12 purchase, when the mailman came in. He said, ‘You guys are Best Buy, right?’ The cashier said, ‘Yes, we’re owned by them.’ Dude, I totally got suckered into spending money at Best Buy!! The Geek Squad should’ve been a huge tipoff. Man.

Anyway, one of the guys there told me this is the flagship store, and you will soon be seeing eq-life at every single strip mall on the planet.

  3. I went to see Hitch last night in a fit of girliness. It was as expected: eh. It’s hard not to like Will Smith, though. He was, after all, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

  4. It was 50 degrees outside and amazing and… wow. I couldn’t wait to walk to the lake from here, but I never thought I’d be able to as early as mid-February. It’s about 4.5 miles total, which is awesome. I took photos of the ice on Lake Calhoun, but my phone is being an asshole about emailing them to me.

There were so many people out, too. It’s funny that this is a really outdoorsy city when we have so much cold to contend with. It’s one of the things I love about Minneapolis.

After my walk, I did a ton of weights. It feels like more of a VW bus than a beetle, judging by the soreness. I learned today that I can lift to audiobooks, although I thought it was sort of amusing that I was listening to The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

  5. I finished my bathmat! It’s actually fabulous, despite the bad photo. Here’s a closeup of the yarn. Marmelade!

  6. When I got home last night and found my Valentine’s box from Scotty, I discarded everything else I was carrying so quickly that it took me 5 minutes to find my keys under the loveseat this morning. He sent me frames for old photos of my parents, because he noticed I don’t really have pictures of my family about. And no, those people in the picture aren’t my parents, as much as I wish they were. This makes me really want to do something with the old sepia-tone photos I found in my house.

Also, these old keys, which I love; I don’t know how to explain my liking for weighty and substantial things, nor did I know that he knew about it, but man. One of them works in my bedroom door. Coincidence? Hmm. He sent so much sugar-free Valentine’s candy that I will still be eating it at my birthday, and also more of my favorite things of his, which I will most definitely not be sharing with you at this time.

Last night I had to placate Stephanie with treats because I think she was going to strangle me if she heard ‘cuuuuuute’ or ‘sweeeeeet’ one more time. But she’s good about it, and she knows how I am. I talk. When I’m happy, I talk a lot. And when I’m feeling like this, bring earplugs.
