We meet again!

Just so you know. There is nothing better than a relationship with someone who will sit you down when you are about to drown in your daily stresses; who will walk through them with you one by one until each one is acknowledged and/or resolved, and remind you that everything will be ok. And that in fact, everything is better than it’s ever been, your vision just gets blurred sometimes. It’s not just an amazing skill, it’s reflective of someone who understands you really, really well. I am so lucky to have him in my life.

Yesterday I had to have a day off or blood would have run in the streets. I think it worked out well for all involved. I hung out in the sun, I talked, I knitted a sock and a sweater (well, parts of them), and I didn’t do a single bit of work. I’m feeling much better today.

The big highlight of my afternoon was the laundromat. Yes, indeedy. See, I let my laundry build up way too much. So I had the option of taking it to my house and having to stop back every 45 minutes all day long in betwixt errands and such, or I could take it to my mom’s and sit there for hours and hours, OR I could just gather a million quarters and do it all at once at the laundromat. So that’s what I did. I went to the huge one in Uptown, crammed all my stuff into three commercial-sized washers, and got out my knitting. Within moments, I had a friend.

Her name was Stephanie, and she traded me amusement for quarters. It went something like this:

her: Two quarters.
me: What?
her: Two quarters!
me: Oh! Um…. here. (she rushes off to play video games, then returns)
her: Two quarters.
me: How old are you?
her: ……………………..Seventeen.
me: And what grade are you in?
her: First! I have five boyfriends!
me: Are they cute?

So we talked for the couple hours I was there. She loaded and unloaded my laundry for me. She put quarters in the machines, in exchange for a couple extras here and there. She showed me the right way to fold shirts, because I was doing it all wrong. She held Scotty’s boxers over her head and yelled, “Are these your honey’s?” She taught me some Spanish. She asked me to explain over and over how I could possibly not have to go to school anymore. She asked me to buy her everything she saw on TV.

I ended up spending $8 on laundry and $5 on video games for her and her little brother. Oh! And she asked me to take a picture of her, which you’ll find here.

So now I’m gonna say bye and then add a bunch of PS-style notes. Just because.

Bye!
Jenni

1. Scotty put a TON of awesome new stuff on the server. Check it. If you don’t know which server I’m talking about, move along. Nothing to see here.

2. I’ve been posting phone photos daily on a girl about town. Since I pay .25/photo to email them to myself, maybe you should go admire them, huh?

3. I found a didgeridoo class. FOR REAL.

4. T-minus 16 days and counting til I find myself in la Caleeforneea again. I hear there’s an ocean there.
