Man, I have almost a week to write about again. I will attempt the remembering!
First of all, I’d like to mention that our 3day team now has seven members, and we’ve raised $1,370. YAY!! Wednesday night, I declared that I was not going out, because it was my first free night in something like twelve weeks. Or felt like it, at least. So I did my gym thing and ran some errands, then got home and sat down and remembered that I’m not very good at doing nothing. So I got all whiny, until Kaye saved the day by inviting me over for dinner. She made cheese and mushroom calzones. While she thinks this is not a big deal, I think it’s completely awesome. They were so good. I brought my knitting, and we watched a TV show in which people kept killing people and accusing other people of the murders. Then we watched the rest of the Wild game, which got me really excited about the fact I’m going to two hockey games this weekend. But let’s not jump ahead here. Point #1: I’m completely charmed by people cooking for me. It’s very, very nice. Thursday, Pam came running in as I was about to leave and wished me a happy anniversary. That’s because I’ve been here two years! On an 8-week contract! Holy crap. That’s awesome. I was all freaked out that I couldn’t remember what I did Thursday night, but then I realized it’s because it was so damn exciting. I DID LAUNDRY. And I think ate some dates. Point #2: I am so wild. Friday evening I spent with someone I wish I’d gotten to know a long time ago. I’ve been grinning about it since. Also, I’d like to reiterate point #1. Nice! Saturday morning, Homie and I went to the aeroport to claim a Canadian (aka Steve). We met Chele for brunch, then hung out and did some Mpls-touristy things (I now have trouble of thinking of places to bring people other than the mall, because the mall pretty much dwarfs anything else here). We went to Fuji-Ya for sushi and tempura, then headed over to the furthest reaches of St Paul to go CATHOLIC BOWLING. A bunch of people showed up for Steve-O-Palooza 2005, eh. They were all pretty awesome. Since this has been well-documented elsewhere, I won’t reiterate all the dirty details. Here are some highlights!- For $15 apiece, we got the run of the place for three hours. Plus cheap beer and free pop.
- I am the air hockey champion. Over Kaye, at least.
- Bertine is way more competitive than I am, and finally everyone knows it.
- I like arm-wrestling way too much. It’s so damn funny.
- Ken ate a piece of something that looked like asphalt off the bowling alley floor because I told him to. Thankfully, he didn’t die. I’d have felt bad.
- Who was that girl who talked about my ass for 10 minutes? I feel violated.
- I bowled in two lanes at the same time. Not well, but I did it.
- (Point #3:) Everybody loves Journey. I think Jon and I are the only ones who are so entertained by Kid Rock, however.
- The squeezebox song at karaoke, and a bar full of people who all had mullets.
- Being really into singing ‘Mountain Music’ by Alabama. Other people not being amused.
- A yellow dart, then another yellow dart.
- Slow-dancing to Journey (see Point #3), with a guy named Trevor in a NASCAR jacket. Everyone thought they’d have to rescue me from Trevor, but he was a gentleman. A gentleman who was disappointed he couldn’t come home with us from the NASCAR bar, but still.
- I guess there are photos of me kissing a cardboard cutout of racecar driver. Huh.
- Pillowfight.
- I slept on Kaye’s floor for a while, then got up and ate popcorn while she played Pokemon. Lily kept springing onto me and then flying off again. I guess it was some kind of game.
- When I woke up in the morning, there was a txt message on my phone from a porn site that we saw on TV. That was totally Kaye’s fault, I think.
