We’re trying to reserve a hotel in Paris, and this project has ended up being much more complicated than I expected. The original plan was to just stay near CDG, since we have a really early flight out, and take the train to do touristy things. But that line is apparently shut down for the last several stops after 11:30pm due to construction, so that makes it tougher. Here’s what’s involved:
1) The aforementioned early flight, so we need something not incredibly far from the CDG
2) We’ll have a rental car, so we’d prefer something with free or cheap parking
3) Walking distance from a train station – we have a really high walking tolerance, so more than a few blocks is fine
4) Apparently RER usually only runs til 12:30am, so near the Metro might be more ideal
I did a bunch of searching near the ends of some of the Metro lines northeast of Paris, and found very little in the way of hotels. It doesn’t help that I know nothing about the neighborhoods, either.
So… advice from travelers?
I don’t have any good advice but the last time I was in Paris they had a metro strike which meant we were really glad that we had decided to stay closer to Paris.
i thought about that too! that happens way too often. we’d have the car so that’d be ok, but i’d prefer to not have to deal with parking etc.
