Howdy, pardners.
My sister just wrote to inform me that the forecast for next weekend in Orlando is sunny, in the low 90s. This trip will involve driving to the ocean in a convertible, dance night, rollercoasters at Universal, seeing my supercute nieces, and hanging out with Alina. I cannot wait. I did indeed get to Trader Joe’s on Monday, and the madhouse in the parking lot made me really happy that I had a tiny car, so I could drive under trucks and on sidewalks and launch off ramps to escape. The store is great, though, and I’m excited to go back when it’s not full of wide-eyed suburbanites. They have the best chopped-up-ready-to-prepare produce, and cover all my fake-meat needs. I may even forget Whole Foods exists. Tuesday, I ran out to the parents’ after the walking, because they were back in town from grandma’s, and it was time to celebrate mothers’ day and my dad’s birthday. They wanted to go to a Mexican place in Eagan, because they were known for their deafeningly-loud seven-piece mariachi band (apparently, that was a plus?). Thankfully, the mariachis had the evening off. The food was not great, and I felt icky afterwards. I remedied this ickiness by going to happy hour at Lyle’s with Cindi. Happy hour from 9-11pm is really the best idea ever. We ran into Ellie accidentally, then Jon intentionally, and round about midnight it was time to go home. Jon gave me shit about never having time for anything, because I’m all ‘fundraiser’ this and ‘3day’ that. Hahaha. That’s fantastic, yo. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Last night, I made desserts for the Booby-Q! I made a big pan of brownies (my mom’s are the best ever), and two pans of Rice Krispie treats, because apparently people like them. I’ve never made them before, and I felt like I was starring in some kind of pratfall-laden sitcom as I was trying to press them into the pan, with all the Krispies sticking to me like I had dipped my hands in superglue. It took me way too long to realize I could use wax paper. Hi, I’m a good cook. Tonight I’m going to pick up some extra leis, because, as promised, everyone at the BoobyQ will get lei’d. (Shut up, it’s ALWAYS funny.) I need to get beer, run to UPS, and stop at MAP to drop off my donations for the Aidswalk on Sunday. Then the gym, then Suzi’s with Mollie and krew. Apparently the art cars will be there tonight as a pre-event for Art-a-Whirl, and I’m really hoping to get to see them because I’m always out of town for the art car parade. I’d go on about the rest of the weekend because it involves the sexpo and a pillowfight and boobs, but I’ll just review all that later. Haha. Tomorrow is Habitat for Humanity! I’m hoping to have time to get some photos. I’m excited. Speaking of excited, we have another new member of Team Boobylicious, and she says a friend of hers may also be joining. This would bring us up to the 12 we’d hoped to recruit. We’re getting very close to having raised $20,000 already. That’s amazing. They announced that the 3day is starting at the zoo again this year, and of course ending at the state capitol. I was poking around their website last night reading some of the bulletin board posts, and I was totally bawling the whole time. I get so emotional about this event. I want to do it every year. There’s nothing I love more than talking to people who have also been there, and know why we cry everytime we talk about closing ceremonies or watch the video. It’s that incredible. I want to share it with everyone. It’s 92 days til the event. Exactly three months. OK, I have to sign off before I start crying again. Hope to see some of you Saturday!Jenni
