Oh my god, it was really hard to go back to work today.
But since my weekends generally begin on Thursdays, that means tomorrow is already the weekend! ROCK. Since last week when it started to get hot outside, one of my kitchen cabinet doors has been stuck. The wood swells up and the paint sticks and there’s no budging it. This happens to be the cabinet with a lot of food-staples inside it, and I can live without most of them; my general consumables live in the fridge or freezer. However, this is also the cabinet containing the coffee beans, and therefore I have decided that I am cursed to a lifetime of the overfriendly, meddling baristas at Caribou next to my parking lot at work. I don’t even like Caribou. Yes, I could buy new beans. Yes, I could go to Dunn Brothers or Gigi’s or Urban Bean, all of which are within 4 blocks of my house. But I like to either bring my coffee with me from home, or pick it up after I park, mostly because those disposable cups have a liking for dripping in Miguel. And we can’t have that. Anyway, I have cabinet issues. Seriously. Today I bought tickets to see the Dalai Lama in Denver in September. Seeing him in person is one of those big items on the life to-do list, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity. With a little planning, we shall manage a trip to the Rockies that weekend as well. Yay!! Also today, I realized I’m $9 short of my $3,000 fundraising goal for the 3day. AWESOME. I was surprised to get to the $2,200 minimum so quickly, much less this far. I’m so amazed by it all. So, one of the things I did today was take stuff over to my mom’s with Wendy and Jane for the garage sale this weekend. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Claudia’s, all proceeds from the sale of our stuff will go to Team Boobylicious. (Actually, I wasn’t able to come up with anything in my apartment to sell. I’m pretty into only having the things I want around me, so I guess that means I’ve done a good job of that so far.) Also also today, I got my hairs cut and beautified by Mahogany, who gave me a big bunch of stuff on the way out because it’s my birthday next week, and also wants to come skydiving with me. Because that’s what I’ve decided I want for my birthday! I’m getting myself some plane-leaping. Probably not for a while due to the fact that almost every moment of my life is booked through the end of time (well, at least it feels like it sometimes), but I’m totally going skydiving this summer. So, now that I’m back from vacation, I’m obsessed with birthday-partying next week. We decided today that next Thursday, which is my actual birthday, we’re going to have dinner at Chiang Mai, then cause a general ruckus on the rooftop at Stella’s. This is well-planned, as we can walk home from there. Friday, a bunch of us are driving up to Kaye’s family’s party-cabin in the wilds of Wisconsin, and there further celebration will commence. Saturday, others will join us at that locale, and by then the revelry will be unstoppable. Sunday, we will all return home to the Twin Cities, and most of us will likely be in pain. Totally worthwhile and well-earned pain, that is. Hey, you only turn 33 once, right? And now, my friends, I must pry the cat from my pillow and sleep. Good night!Jenni

your questions, answered
q:What do you want for your birthday? a: I would like everyone to join me in the ridiculous four days of celebrating I have planned. Also, you could buy me a drink, if you wish. I’d be very happy if those who wished to give gifts would consider supporting me on the 3day instead. As you know, it’s a really big deal to me. |
