You know why I take so many pictures? It saves me the writing!
This weekend, in chronological order:- I finally bought a tent!!
- Birthday dinner for Stephanie and Escobar at the parents’. Wendy was there, too, because she’s part of the family.
- We watched Anchorman, because it had become critically important to do so. Even funnier than the movie itself is how hard Wendy was laughing at it.
- One of the most amusing bar-hops ever with Bill, Katie, and Cindi: Jaros’ (which was chock-full of bachelor-party collarpops), Dusty’s (we won $1 on pulltabs), Yacht Club (where Cin bought us the pink shot, and it was all downhill from there), and, fittingly, the Dragon.
- I slept on Cin’s couch. I may also have peed at the intersection of Franklin and Lyndale. I think I win for that.
- The next morning, I was painfully aware of the fact that it looked like I was doing the walk of shame down Lyndale in my wrinkled pants. Luckily, Chele saw me near the Wedge and gave me a ride…
- to brunch. And then she drove us around the lakes in her convertible, and to retrieve Miguel from northeast. It was gorgeous outside.
- That meant it was the perfect day for my first trip to the fair this year. Definitely not the last.
- We witnessed the birth of a calf within 5 minutes of entering the fair. It involved a chain and lots of tugging. I wasn’t quite prepared for that.
- I had hush puppies and corn fritters. Wendy tried the deep-fried twinkie. We sought out the brand-new, already legendary hotdish on a stick booth, but did not partake. We saw the wienermobile again. I bought a cowboy hat.
- My hip is giving me trouble post-3day. It’s not terrible, just annoying.
- Met up with Mattron at Keegan’s. Johnny Jump-up?
Badawesome idea. - Regrouped at Pete and Klein’s house. Rode the 25 miles to the drive-in lying in the bed of a pickup with Cindi, drinking Jameson. The dudes sat on the bench (about whose upholstery I heard a lot later), drinking the largest greenies ever invented.
- Talladega Nights and Snakes on a Plane at Vali-Hi. Cumulatively, I saw about 20 minutes of these movies. I think I got the gist, though: there was a plane, and it had snakes on it. I enjoyed the snake-o-vision.
- In between films, we went to locate Kaye and Jumi, who were reluctant to give up their awesome parking spot in favor of hanging with the bad kids in the back row. We also found Peter and his motorcycle.
- We rode back with Pete and Klein, wrapped in blankets on the bench in the back of the truck. It was far too cold for August. Klein forgot to turn on the music, so we sang Journey instead. We earned some fans on the interstate.
- Cindi and I late-lunched at Azia (with pre-coffee at The Bad Waitress, a place we really need to get brunch sometime), then shopped at the Midtown Exchange, which is now officially one of my favorite places on earth.
- I completed the last step in my house-reorganization project: I dealt with the junk lurking in the corner. I also decided it’s not allowed to be hot anymore, so I put the robot away. I am now the most organized person you have ever met.
