the denver plague

I have not done a damn thing in the past three days but be sick. Matt got a cold on the way back from LA, and it was deemed the Denver Plague (since he flew through there and I didn’t). For a couple of days, my sinuses were so full I was convinced my face was going to explode. But this morning I’m back to at least 75%, and I’m so thrilled about that I came to work early, even*.

I’m really grateful to have a job where we have the option of working from home. I hate taking PTO when I’m sick, because I want it for vacation instead. This gives me the option to be not infect anyone but still be productive.

I did manage to plant most of my garden this week! Thanks to a Groupon to Uncommon Gardens, it cost me very little. We now have lettuce, spinace, kale, Swiss chard, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, onions, beans, herbs, and potatoes. Tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries will hopefully go in next week!

We’re heading to South Dakota after work today to hang out with the future in-laws. There will be Mother’s Day brunch, Kentucky Derby mint juleps, and hopefully a lot of relaxing.

*That’s really because we want to get on the road before the rest of traffic today.
