current mood: LOG

Dear everyone,

The other day I got overwhelmed by the amount of bloggin’ I hadn’t done in days past, and tried to pawn it off on someone else. Then I felt guilty about being lazy too busy, so I have returned. Hi!

So where were we? Oh yeah, ten days ago. Holy crap. I will include some links to make it look as if I’m providing content.

Last Monday, I hung out with Kirby, then Wendy and I went to the Twins rally thing at Peavey Plaza, then headed to Luce to be generally offensive and laugh so hard it was difficult to eat our Awesome Pizza. Someday they’re naming that after us, by the way. We need to work on that.

Tuesday, I began my belly-dance class at the Cassandra School of Dance with Melanie. I LOVED IT. I had to miss the second class due to hockey this week, but I’m making it up tonight. I can’t wait. Also, I really want a jingly butt now. After class, we went to Town Talk, because it’s what people do on Tuesdays.

In the eveningtide on Wednesday, Matt and I had dinner at King and I, a place I haven’t been in a very long time, because I always forget how much I like it. We decided we are very, very classy, and I challenge you to find that untrue.

Thursday, someone at work looked out the window and saw people amassing at the courthouse, so I grabbed my camera and wandered over to find an anti-Bush rally ringed by many flavors of po-po, including several Department of Homeland Security units. I resisted the urge to deface their vehicles, and in the meantime got some pretty decent photos. I followed the march part of the way down 3rd Street, but was overcome with laughter when I recognized my poi-spinning teacher as the guy on stilts wearing giant orange pants, and then I could not go on. After work, I walked around my lake (for the last time this season, I fear), then I met Cindi at Brit’s, then we ended the evening at the Dragon, which is always a great idea on a work-night. Thankfully, we got there fairly early.

Friday was painfully awesome, as my boss took us out for lunch-and-beers, then we had fruit and sugar-free ice cream, and then it was time for HOCKEY. The Gophers were playing an exhibition game at Xcel; although it didn’t end well, it was still excellent to see them and yell and get so tense from excitement that I’m sore the next day. After the game, Wendy and I headed over to Lyle’s to meet up with various homies. The night ended well, if by ‘well’ you mean we licked Lyle’s (because of the name, duh), and spent time laying on the lawn next door. I got home somewhere around 3am.

Saturday I got all Betty Crocker and spent the morning cleaning and cooking. On the way to Whole Foods for supplies, I smelled the wondrous scents of fall baking from another apartment, so I ended up making a large apple crisp in addition to the cauliflower gratin, cranberry sauce, and gorgonzola-stuffed figs I was bringing to Canadian Thanksgiving. Because I can’t actually eat the apple crisp, I doled it out amongst my friends, and therefore everybody won. Later in the day, Matt and I hung out at Herkimer, and then I joined Bill and Cindi for an evening at Keegan’s, surrounded by douchebags. We called it an early night (that probably had something to do with 3am Friday), and Cindi and I ran to Walgreens and Kowalski’s to shop, because that’s what you do when Tuesday is the new Saturday. We spent far too much time learning about new condom technology. I also got the best nail polish ever: hot pink with glitter. I’m a little sad that flipflop season is over.

On Canadian Thanksgiving, eh, Cindi and I had brunch at The Bad Waitress, and later headed to Jumi’s for the festivities. Because we’re true nerds at heart, we had decided it was necessary to write reports about Canada and share them with the group, a la third grade. Here is the text of my report, which I believe to be pretty damn awesome for something that required absolutely no research at all. The writing-in-pencil part took almost an hour, though. At Canadian Thanksgiving, we played Cranium for two rounds before our team got distracted and wandered off, to the annoyance of the other guests. Wendy and I spent some quality time settin’ on blocks in the driveway (did I mention we’re classy?), and Kaye tried to climb a tree using a bucket. We had an awesome bonfire that was a little slow to start (hey, we’re city people), and then Wendy did a shot of gravy, which did contain three different types of alcohol. So, basically, best Canadian Thanksgiving ever.

Monday, I returned to my circuit weight training class for the first time in what seemed like forever. I was so glad to be back. I’m having to pretty much start over because I’ve been very sporadic about lifting since the neck injury, but it felt really great and I was sore for two days afterwards. Where else would I end up doing 240 crunches? I’m excited to be back to that as well.

On Tuesday, Kaye and I met up with Matt and Julia at the Happy Gnome. I fell in love with the server, but we had to leave before I could declare my love for her. That’s OK, because we were HOCKEYBOUND. We saw a Wild v Canucks game that was 50 minutes of boring, then 10 minutes + overtime + 4-round shootout of AWESOME. The Wild are now 3-0 for the season, which makes me excited enough to want to go again, even though the Gophers will always be my first love.

Yesterday it became very cold and snowy. When I went to take the trash out, it looked like a blizzard was localized to my alley. My building doesn’t have the heat turned on yet, which is pleasant. Therefore, I spent a lot of time in the bath. I always go in there intending to read, and then end up just laying there, often falling asleep. It’s possible someday I may drown, in which case I’m going to be mightily pissed, as drowning doesn’t involve either class or pyrotechnics. Just not my style.

Today, my mother came down and joined me for lunch at Kieran’s, after lamenting about never seeing me anymore. She didn’t know what to think when I told her that Cindi, Matt, and Wendy all said hi. She got to meet Kirby, which was funny. Tonight, I am going to belly dancing class, then to Town Talk, because, well, it just feels like it’s been forever. Oh, and it’s Wendy’s sendoff-to-Chicago, too. Yeah!

And now I must go post this before I drown in the volume of text I’ve produced here. And I’m not even being wordy right now.

See you soon!
Jenni
