Happy New Saturday!
It’s that time of year in Minnesota where the weather is spastic and confused, so I have three different coats hanging in my living room, and my apartment is either so cold I can’t feel my fingers, or so warm I can’t wear clothes. But since we’ve still had some days recently when it’s been nice enough to be outdoors, I’m not complaining. When last we spoke, it was Thursday, and I had just had lunch with my mother. In the evening, I went to belly dance class, decided it was high time I had a jingly butt, too (Melanie is on recon for places we can buy them in Minneapolis), and afterwards met up with the crewe at Town Talk for Wendy’s bachelorette party. We took turns wearing the Bride-To-Be sash and tiara, and it was all flowers and romance, all night long. Friday was HOCKEY, the Gophers’ first regular-season game at Mariucci. I was debating whether I wanted to go (it was non-conference, and the team they were playing sucked), but then Kaye emailed me about her season-ticket-holding coworker’s seats in the 3rd row, and it was decided. We watched them destroy Wayne State; it was kind of brutal to watch their poor goaltender after the fourth goal or so. Also, the Gophers looked really good, especially passing. I’m so excited for the CC game. And to finally get to see Kellen again!! Saturday morning, I took Chloe to the vet for her re-check, to see how her thyroid meds are working. Her numbers are dropping, and she put on 5oz! I’m supposed to up her medicine a little more, and she’ll be in the normal range. It’s kind of heartbreaking taking her to the vet, because she tries to curl herself up and hide under my arm while she’s there, and then rides silently back home, even though she meowed the whole way there. Upon her return home, Chiva hisses at her for the next two days, because obviously she’s a brand new mystery cat again. Seriously, that animal is not bright at all. In the afternoon, Cin and I joined Melanie and Lara at Town Talk for brunching and grabass with Tim, and then we went Halloween-shopping. I found a shirt for my costume, and I am verymuch excited about Halloween parties this year (not to mention kind of sad we’re not hosting one ourselves, but: 612 Party!). After shopping, I had me some very good entertainment, and then we went to the Dragon. And then, well, you can guess the rest. Sunday, we went climbing at REI. It’s been three years or so, and I feel very rusty, but also like it’ll probably come back fast. I only got about halfway up the 5.7 in my allotted 10 minutes, and my forearms are still sore. Afterwards, I went for a walk around my lake (I thought last time was the season-finale, but no!), and then did many house-things, to include: baking scones, stretching, cleaning, and taking a bath. It was excellent. Yesterday, all of us were starting to panic a little about the party, so we were very plan-and-listful. I bought an entire carful of beer and liquor at Surdyk’s (I told the guy behind the counter I wasn’t going to drink it all in one night), and then Kaye and I went shopping for decorations. We did really well, and therefore I have no doubt that the party will rule. Well, I knew that already, but now it’ll look good, too. This fine evening I will go to belly-dancing, and then haul the booze into Cindi’s apartment. I also need to figure out my outfit for the party, because I was struck with kismet last night and therefore have to go all-out. Also, I just got an email stating that registration for the 2007 3day begins on Thursday. I’m so excited I have goosebumps. Expect to be hearing more about that soon.Jenni
