It’s spring!! Here’s proof:
Last night while Matt was grilling Korean food, I got out my gloves and cleared last year’s remnants out of the garden. The vegetable garden is now ready for tilling, and the planter boxes need to dry out a little bit before I add fertilizer and get them further prepared. There are already several things growing out there, too! Like the rhubarb, which looks like it may actually be an alien:
Last weekend, Matt and I went to the Gophers baseball game at Target Field. It didn’t really matter that the Gophers lost; we got to hang out in the stadium in way better seats than we’ll ever have at a Twins game. They had padding, even. I managed to get a pretty sexy sunburn, featuring a bright red nose and raccoon eyes from wearing sunglasses. We were also the people who looked like tourists taking photos with our little basketball mascot around the stadium. Bally needs something to do to distract him from Butler’s disastrous championship game, right?
We got a Sodastream machine last weekend, and have been making our own pop since then. I got the diet lemon-lime flavoring they sell, and it’s a fair semblance of the real thing. I like that they use Splenda instead of aspartame. We’ve also made some of our own flavorings, including ginger and jasmine syrup. One thing to note is that if you overcarbonate it, you can’t really drink because you’re too busy burping. Which is kind of amusing, really.
Also in the last week, we got passes to the fitness center at Edinborough so we could swim laps. As far as I can tell, there are never more than 8 people at the pool at any given time, and that’s pretty excellent. The workout area is nothing special, but that’s fine because I have my regular gym. And holy hell, I was sore after our first visit. The most concentrated swimming I usually do is while snorkeling.
This weekend is TRIVIA 42. That means from Friday at 6pm to Sunday at midnight, we’ll be hunching over our computers trying to assist our team to glorious victory! Since I can’t possibly sit still that long, some questions may be interrupted by yardwork and trips to the gym.
And now it’s time for my obligatory wedding update!!
1) Since the save-the-dates have mostly arrived, I can tell you about our awesome wedding website. If you want to look superhot, I would recommend having a pinup artist draw you.
2) Our catering arrangement fell through because they couldn’t get a permit from the city of Minneapolis. Even though they have a restaurant in Minneapolis. I’m not the slightest bit excited about finding a new caterer, because we were really excited to work with them. Plus we’re kind of getting crunched for time since it’s a little over 5 months away.
3) To balance that out: I got my wedding dress and I love it!! You can see a tiny bit of it here. It was kind of scary ordering it online, but you really wouldn’t want to see me wandering into Brides of France or anything. That would just end in bloodshed.

Love the wedding website and the honeymoon fund idea! Your wedding will redefine awesome. So very happy for you. (also, kinda dying to know what Wendy is wearing.)
thanks!! don’t tell wendy yet, but it’s this!
How much do you LOOOOOVE the soda stream? Megan and I got one a few weeks ago and I love it. Also, I have a new appreciation/love for sparkling water. I always hated the cheap in-a-can stuff but I actually enjoy it now.
Make sure to play around with the strength of mixes. We are enjoying a lighter root beer. I’ll stop now. I love that thing.
i’m kind of obsessed with it! i could carbonate things all day, but they’re all strict about only allowing me to do that to water.
i’ve tried cutting down on the syrup, too. it’ll take me a while to get used to just plain sparkling water, though. matt wants to try making our own tonic!
We’re going to try our own tonic once we get settled. The premade stuff is just too hard to find in stores.
