I absolutely love our house. It’s the best ever, and I want to be there all the time. Stupid work.
We got a ton done this weekend. The main floor is unpacked, and everything is in its approximate place. The basement still needs unpacking and arranging, but we did organize it and put things in storage. We fixed the upstairs shower, put in pantry shelves, cleaned up the landscaping, raked leaves, donated a bunch more clothing, and got our home network set up, including the Wii. We also managed to play Guitar Hero World Tour, grill out on our patio last night (could it have been any more perfect outside this weekend?), have people over on Halloween, hand out candy to trick-or-treaters (and the aforementioned beer for the parents), met several neighbors, and prepared actual meals in our now-functional kitchen. I baked cookies for the election party last night, and even managed to get some knitting done. I think that means we’re pretty much settled.
In non-house news, we actually ventured out Saturday night. Matt and I had dinner at Big 10 and watched the Gophers stomping Mankato (for homecoming, even!), then went over to St Paul to join a big crowd for Missy’s 7th Annual Not-Dead Party. Willis, Matt, and I ended up testing the daylight savings bar-close rules very close to 2am (which should’ve been 1am), but were denied. Which is probably for the best, of course, especially under the watchful eye of the St Paul policeman at the door.
Since it’s very, very nice out today, I walked over to the Fine Line a little while ago to pick up tickets for the Eagles of Death Metal (Lyrics Born was cancelled for Sunday, sadly), and then decided to go to the main post office and get rid of my PO box. I’ve had it for about 5 years now, for domain registration purposes, and never bothered checking it, since I don’t use that address for anything but those records. Apparently plenty of mailspammers get addresses from those records, though, because holy crap! There were a few things in the mailbox, and then the lady in the window gave me a locker key, where a giant pile of crap was waiting for me. There was not a single thing of value (or even for me personally), so I did a lot of recycling. Then I had to fill out two long forms, and get a dollar back in exchange for my key. Oh, and also I waited in line for 20 minutes with all the local hobos. I guess they have to get their mail delivered somewhere.
Tomorrow I shall go vote in the morning (fingers crossed that the seniors are a little more on top of things this year, because they’re hella slow there), then I’ll be at work late for an upgrade. After that, we’re heading to Ryan’s for the election party. There’s a contest wherein your entry involves a bottle of booze, and the winner takes all. If that’s not an awesome game, I don’t know what is.
Don’t forget to vote!! Well, unless you’re voting republican. In that case, feel free to stay home.
