Here is how awesome my weekend was.
Friday night, Matt and I watched a decisive Gophers win and then went to see Lyrics Born at the Cabooze.
He hasn’t been to Minneapolis in a long time; the last show at the Fine Line was cancelled, and I was worried we’d never see him again. Not so! God, that was a great show. Also, you’ll notice we had a pretty excellent view.
Saturday, we headed to the Marriott West, checked in, and promptly had eight people in our room drinking champagne (in a longstanding work-party tradition). We met everyone in the lobby at 2pm and boarded a party bus with shark teeth on the front, and a pinup girl on the side. Appropriately, it was called “First Class”.
We dove into beer coolers, and my boss started announcing teams. I had no clue what the plan for the day was til I noticed a box sitting on the floor labeled “XL Coveralls”. PAINTBALL!!
Holy crap, it was awesome. Here’s my boss; the inscription on her coveralls did her no good.
We were divided into four teams, and took to the course two groups at a time to shoot the hell out of each other. I loved it. Also, my team came in second! (My boss’ team won. Totally a setup, in my opinion.) We each won $75.
After paintball, we got back on the bus for the hotel. There was much more beer, which led to this:
We took a break to go shower (and drink beer in said shower), then met in the lobby at 6pm, where she had a full bar set up. We hung out there for a while, then headed into the auditorium for dinner and a show called “Let’s Kill the Boss.” After that, we went over to a private room at Kip’s Pub for the rest of the night. Apparently it was so crazy after we left that the rest of the people there got cut off. AWESOME.
Not surprisingly, work was a lot quieter than usual today! After we got done laughing about the party, of course.
