STUPID ROBOTS

Happy Monday, dearest internet.

I am somewhat sore today. SORE FROM AWESOMENESS.

Friday, there was much laying on the couch, ordering pizza, drinking beverages, watching hockey, et cetera. Also, I saw Survivor for the first time in many years, and the only thing that has changed is the leatheriness of Jeff Probst’s skin. I kind of miss that show, and am still consistently wowed by the Fancy Modern Technology involved in later-days television. Rewinding! No commercials! What?

Saturday, we braved the Mall for the xmas shopping, mostly because the new Hockey Lodge had opened, and I needed to procure a Secret Santa gift therefrom. The place was annoyingly packed with American Idol fans and Iowans (I’m unmovitated to make a Venn diagram of such, so you’ll have to imagine it), but we survived. We also visited REI to stock up on Technology, because, really, can one ever have enough Technology when engaged in daily warfare with ROBOTS? The answer here is ‘no’.

I was home long enough to ensure that my cats had not been answering emails on my behalf in my absence, then headed to Lyle’s to meet Cin and Bill for more hockey. I should note that the games this weekend were not even the slightest bit dramatic, due to the fact they were playing Michigan Tech, but still. There were Gophers. Gophers who are on an 18-game unbeaten streak. Hell yes.

Sunday, Stephanie and I went equipment-shopping, and got all our gear together just in time for broomball practice. We feared there would be no ice, due to the recent trend towards global warming and general climatological upset that could not possibly be called by the Willful Destruction of our Earth by our elected officials who will all conveniently be dead before every single person on the planet gets cancer, but the rinks were sufficent for practice, if perhaps a little grassy near the boards. And, well, in the center. But it worked.

Because I had really sexy knee-and-shin pads (with broomball brooms on them!), I of course did not fall on my knees at all. I did fall on my ass a couple times while in the goal. I also fell on top of Jumi once (she was totally asking for it), and on my hip and elbow once. My elbow now has a really interesting and painful bump in the spot I like to rest it on my desk. I cannot wait for our first game, because it is going to be both ridiculous and awesome. As are all my favorite things in life, really.

After practice, I dedicated myself to home-things, including reading in the bathtub and knitting. Pair 2 of 3 convertible mittens have now been completed, with two weeks to go til Christmas. I also got all of my Hawaii photos uploaded, but I’m still in the process of labeling and tagging, so they will hopefully be available tomorrow.

Today, I am 1) extremely nerdy and 2) extremely overcaffeinated, to the point that my contacts are drying on my eyeballs. I am going to correct this issue by having an extremely chillaxed evening, oh yes I am. I will be back later this week to issue last call for holiday cookies! Support Team Boobylicious today! Everybody wins!
