i like this journalism thing.

Yesterday morning, I woke up with Pour Some Sugar On Me in my head. I will probably never be the same.

So, one very important thing that I forgot to mention yesterday is that I have an empty drawer. This is very very big news in my house. My organizing and donation-pile-building has yielded one completely barren drawer, and I’ve peered into it four times now, wondering exactly what will end up in there. Notebooks? Unmentionables? Gravel? The possibilities are almost more exciting than the outcome. I’m just going to enjoy its emptiness for now, as it is liberating.

Last night, we had bidness to attend to, or at least Matt did. He’s working on an article that requires touring bars and drinking. It sounds really great, but there’s actually quite a bit of work involved too: you know, getting info and interviewing and arranging for pictures and writing. Me, I just come along and enjoy the upsides.

Our second stop on this outing was Temple, one of those places the local media is watching closely to succeed or fail, what with several upscale restaurants closing (for which they blame Town Talk a lot, haha). I didn’t expect to be as impressed as I was, because fancy isn’t my thing, so much as ‘someplace I’d be comfortable taking a nap under the table if necessary’. I had a drink with a floating orange island in it, and this particular island was ON FIRE. We also shared a cheese plate almost identical to one we had at the superfancy restaurant in Vegas. Because of this, I would like to respectfully request that Webster’s adds the word “cheesegasm” to the dictionary. It’s only right.

Anyway, we will surely be back, and next time we’re having a Menage a Trois.

Also on this adventure, we discovered Betty Jean’s Chicken n Waffles downtown, which makes two places I must get to ASAP, or else. (If you haven’t watched the commercial for Restaurant Miami, you are surely missing out. Please note that it must truly be great, for this is the first time ever that I have linked to The ‘Space. Hopefully the last.)

This weekend, dudes. There is a whole hell of a lot going on this weekend. Trust that you will be hearing about this soon.
