GOPHER REJECTS! ! !!!

Dearest internet, how are your things today?

My things, they are excellent. Because on top of everything else, there is HOCKEY.

Wednesday evening, we achieved our goal of ultimate chillaxation, with a surprising amount of household productivity as well. We did laundry (I dragged my giant bag over to Matt’s, because I have this problem involving running out of underwear and just going to buy more at Target), and then we made SQUAREPIE (a pot pie with a bunch of vegetables and seitan, which we cooked in a 9×9 pan because he didn’t have a pie plate). SQUAREPIE was a huge hit, and became Thursday’s lunch.

Last night, Andy, Matt, Wendy, Stephanie and I convened at Dixie’s, then went over to Xcel Center for the play-in game between Wisconsin and Michigan Tech. We were rooting for Tech, because, you know, better dead than red. Unfortunately, Tech wasn’t really rooting for Tech. We left after the second period and walked over to Pazzaluna, another bar on Matt’s list for the article. On the way back to her car afterward, Stephanie heard the Tech band chanting, “We’re number five! We’re number five!” Haha.

We went to Town Talk, at which point I was feeling particularly unwell. I’m pretty sure it’s because I had only eaten a little salad at Dixie’s, and did not get my intended pretzel at Xcel. Even after eating, I didn’t feel any better, so I went back to Matt’s. I had a hellish drive home; I couldn’t remember the order of the streets and managed to get lost in South Minneapolis (and found out exactly why Tangletown is named thus), despite being completely sober. My blood sugar issues don’t visit me often, but when they do they’re pretty spectacular. I was worried about what was wrong with me last night, but I feel fine this morning.

Today I’m going to meet up with the afternoon-game peoples at the Gnome, go watch St Cloud vs UND (which will involve heckling of both teams equally), then dinner+ruckus and the evening game. I’m not thrilled that we’re playing Wisconsin, but it’s going to be a hell of a game.

Now before I go get my hockey on, today’s exciting links!

– I was interviewed for a WSJ online article about Twitter and Dodgeball drama. SO FUNNY.

– Here is my second inclusion in All Photographers Now! I love the idea of that project.

– From Jay, an update on the missing Nun Bun. We visited it when we were in Nashville, and its theft was highly traumatizing. It’s chillin’ with Jebus!

Ok, you know what? It’s hockeytime. GO GOPHERS!!
