Guys, here’s the thing with the Draft Party.

It’s AWESOME. Despite things like Scotche and Riot Punch and the Crimson Tide. Just thinking about them makes me a little nauseous. And that’s why I’ll always have the Friday before Labor Day off work. Well, that and camping.
Friday, once we were able to stand, we headed east to a new campground outside of Hudson. While there was a kind of rough hike into the group site (we didn’t realize we’d have to haul things, so nobody brought packs or anything useful for hauling) and the rangers liked to come around and tell everyone to shut up at 11pm, and, oh, there was that one night where I didn’t sleep at all because of the goddamn child screaming at the site across the way – seriously, who brings a baby camping? In Wisconsin? – it was still awesome. We had an almost 20-person group of some of my most favorite people around, and we spent at least 75% of the time laughing our asses off. The other 25% was devoted to hiking, playing cards, knitting in a camp chair, and charring food over the fire.
(Note: I have zero photos from camping. Seriously. I forgot my camera at home.)
Because it was really hot for a couple of days, and some of us got overly sunburnt hiking, we all decided to head out midday on Sunday so we could shower and enjoy our real beds. That was an excellent choice, since it poured there a couple hours after we left. Matt and I grilled, ate food from our garden, and generally chilled.
On Memorial Day, we went to the horse races at Canterbury. I bet with my winnings from the Kentucky Derby, and Matt turned his $20 into over $100, picking correctly in 5 consecutive races. Once that was over, we went to the card room and played Pai Gow. I won $15, and he won a bunch more, practically guaranteeing he’s going to have bad luck there for the rest of the season. Or will he? I have a feeling it won’t be long before we find out again. I love that place a lot!!
Returning to work wasn’t as painful as I expected, plus it’s already Tuesday! And one week til my birthday! Start shopping now; I’d be happy to provide you a list of fancy items I’d like, in case you need it. You’re welcome.
