win twins!

I went to my first Twins game at Target Field last night! Though we’d toured the stadium, I hadn’t seen an actual baseball game yet. Here’s the view from our seats in section 216, row 2:

Matt met me at work and we rode the train over there, arriving about 5:15. We figured we could get in early and check out some of the food stands and bars, because we hadn’t seen most of them in working condition yet. Strangely, they don’t open the gates til 90 minutes before the game. Since we didn’t really have time to go elsewhere, we stood around and waited.

It ended up working out well, though, because we were the first people into the Town Ball Tavern. That meant we could go grab the best table in the place, which has this view:

So getting to the stadium right as it opens? Highly recommended.

Other favorites:

– the fact that the crappy “Walks Will Haunt” ghost is still used on the HD screen. And now he comes out of a UFO!

– fireworks when we win!

– no lines in the bathroom

– nobody fired off a foul ball directly at my head (I’m sure it’ll happen at some point)

Dislikes:

– that ramp from the upper decks. It’s like a slow death march. Go for the stairs or escalator instead.

– when you put a full beer in the cupholder at your seat, some of it spills on your purse. You have to drink some first.

– the smiling, winking water tower on the Carmichael Lynch building. Nightmare material!
